Gamers, What's Your Audio Set Up?

I had the K2 HE and can vouch for it! I do want the Q6 Max/HE though as liked the Gateron HE switches so much. Once this Q6 Max is worn out (if....) I will probably upgrade. Unless one is sent for review or something.

Had?.... Why did you get rid!
Had it for review, non full sized doesn't do it for me but it's Keychron's first proper HE keyboard so I wanted to check it out as it gives good insight into how Keychron has handled HE switches. Better than others as it turns out having also had HE keyboards from other brands inc Wooting.

I had a Q1 HE which I ordered from their kickstarter. I didn't like it. Or rather I didn't like form factor, but liked the switches. So I gave it to a mate, and got the Q6 HE recently. It's now my main board.

Nice one. I opted for the Q6 Max as wanted flexibility of changing the switches.

HE hasn't been standardised yet as each manufacturer has their own set of HE switches..

Yeah, and software and interfaces haven't been standardised yet either.

I went from a Q6, in which I tried a bunch of different switches, before settling on Gateron Silvers. So high activation point, but I didn't like the weak spring so I replaced them with heavier springs. Then a move to the Q1, with the heavy switches, and because it wasn't a full sized, I had to change. So I'm happy now. And I can change the activation point when I want. I also like how the Q6 HE sounds, very different to standard switches.

My new Eversolo Play arrived today.

wow that looks mint, built-in room correction as well, do you get a mic with it?, being able to just plop in a CD and it retrieves all the meta data and album art and rips it into WAV/FLAC, this is a very appealing unit.

edit -

It says you can use your smartphone microphone for room correction, interesting.

Luxsin is a sister brand to Eversolo.

Yeah Luxsin is the "focused" side of Eversolo. Notice similarities in stuff like the machined volume dial?

I wouldn't be surprised if they copy the Wiim...those can use umik1 with cal file. I have Wiim Ultra.

Do like the bigger screen on the eversolo, but squeezelite for me is a 100% must. I think Eversolo support it, but not sure it's as compatible.

I've actually just been looking at the new Wiim AMP Ultra, which I think is basically a Wiim Ultra with a Wiim Vibelink amp built into it, I guess that is the direct competitor to the Eversolo Play, the Eversolo has less power and uses AKM “Velvet Sound” DAC where as the Wiim uses an ESS DAC chip.

Was just finished watching this comparison,

Wow, these things are cheaper than I thought! It even has a built in CD-player?

About twice the price of Wiim, and if you have a multi room system and needing one per room double the price can add up. The CD drive is a cool feature ripper support

The screen on the Ultra makes it really suitable for desktop use. For across the room use, it's kinda useless. Also you can't navigate music from the screen, which kinda sucks.

Bluetooth audio from video sources like projectors through the X9 has no obvious sign of sync latency, this is interesting, was watching TV shows through my projector paired to the X9 so I could enjoy them through headphones and I noticed no lag with the audio that you normally get elsewhere. AAC was the CODEC as well not aptX-LL as I think the projector only does AAC as highest.

Colour me impressed.

Just an old Creative sub/amp combo with 2 massive decent old speakers I've had for nearly 30 years wired into them, and BT earbuds when I want total immersion.

God dammit @mrk you have created a problem for me. How am I going to fit this on my tiny desk? :D This thing is amazing! I am like 10 seconds into Tortured Poets (Taylor Swift) and I knew it straight away. It's just so much nicer. I haven't done any analytical comparisons but it feels better. Placebo? new toy syndrome? who knows, but I prefer it to the others already.

Argh.... How is this going to fit? it is not only wider but twice as deep as everything else! Lol

p.s. I have 2 questions.

1 - You said when you plug in the headphones, it does the detect ohm thing on the screen....it doesn't do it for me? which input does it only work with or is it in the settings that i need to turn on?

2 - when I turn the volume, it "clicks" internally as it go up, is that normal?

3 - Oh, the L/R imbalance, for my ears I have it down to like 6 or so, not as much as yours. I think that's where the vocals are "centered" inside my head. It is definitely too much to the left through the balanaced output.

p.p.s I own you a pint, or a massive mug of the best tea from China.

Should do it on both the 4.4 and 6.3mm outputs. Since the last firmware, you can turn off impedance detection in the audio settings

Yeah with one of the last firmwares you can turn that off in the Audio Settings section, I think I left it off as I don't use it really opting instead to manually set the gain to high.

Those are the R2R ladder relays, you will hear banks switch over on every 3-4 increments too, it's the white modules top left in this pic:
