Could anyone please just clear up for me what I'm looking at. I'm wanting to buy a GTX1660S as per the title but there seems to be so many options and range in prices I'm feeling a bit lost.

I think (and others may disagree), the 1660S's are much of a muchness? Just set a budget and bid on the ones until you get one :) I personally had the MSI flavour before I sold mine last year.

Thank you very much, so what are they all the same card. Could I just get any of them?

Yes as long as they fit in your case, dual fan will probably cool better than a single fan or will be quieter.

What case, PSU and GPU do you have at the moment as I believe the 1660 s needs an 8 pcie3 cable.
I'm unsure of my PSU, I am happy to change that though if needed.
I have posted a pic of my mobo and i've got a Ryzen 5 3400g I believe.

Was just a bit lost as theres so many variations of the 1660

Take the time to find out what PSU you have and report back before you spend any money. I'm sure your aware the 3400g is a week CPU for gaming but should be ok for now .

Can I ask why are you so fixated on a 1660s?

Bet you could get a second hand 3050 for those prices which will be faster and you get a bit more vram, DLSS etc.

No particular reason, it was recommended to me and they are abundant and within my budget. Just had a quick look and the 3050's seem around double the price second hand than the 1660s?

You might as well go for the full gtx 1660ti as it goes for the same price and is a tiny bit faster.

Or even better look out for a RTX 2060 as it supports DX12_2 ultimate rather than just DX12_1 and faster again. Sometimes go for below £100.

6GB will cause issues in newest games however.

What issues will I face with 6gb? Surely its better than my integrated Vega 11

We're only talking about the very latest games - some state they require 8GB VRAM minimum like Indiana Jones. Some of the very latest games also require DX 12_2 ultimate.

The vast majority of games will be fine. Even most of the latest will work at lower resolutions like 1080p with low settings. Depends on the games you play?

If you choose an RTX 2060, you'll have access to DLSS as well which will help with framerates. As others have said however, check your PSU and other PC parts are compatible - an RTX 2060 needs 160W for itself on an 8-pin PCI-E connector.

Hi Micky, this is an image from the side of my PSU.

I also got this pic, the PSU has a cable woth two of these pairs of plugs coming off of it.

Does this help narrow down as to whether it would be fine for my chosen GPU?

EDIT: I've just realised that the first picture is upside down, my apologies.

You have a COOLER MASTER MWE 500W according to the model number in Google search so your good.

Yes I he 6pin pcie and the 2 pcie will go into a an 8 pin pcie so your good for the 1660 super.

Are you happy with GPU choice?

What case do you have and is there enough length for it ?

Perfect and yes I think so. I dont currently have any GPU and at the price range of the 1660S I'm happy with what it will offer.

Not sure of the case model but looking at the space it looks like I should have plenty of clearance for a GPU.

Your good then.

Next upgrade if you fancy would be a new CPU something like the 5600/5600x but you would need to update the bios on your motherboard.
