I've been thinking about this for some time & I know I'm not a prolific poster, so this suggestion my not hold much gravitas.

I would like to suggest a new sub forum under life: HISTORY?

I'm sure a lot of us have an interest in it, & would like to discuss or share interesting info, videos etc.
There could be such topics like ww1 & 2. Arctic exploration. Rome, wild west, ancient civilisations.
Whatever floats your historical boat!

Where else could you discuss the now forgotten, lost craft & benefits of applying mustard to grow facial hair?

Opinions kindly appreciated.

I vote yes. I know little about history. Except maybe the last two world wars. I'd like to learn a few bits and pieces on history.

You could rename the speakers corner, and call it something like Speakers corner - Debate of newsworthy events. And history

It's a nice idea, but the scope of even the smallest topic could be so massive that each thread would be huge... and there are already plenty of existing history forums where this is already covered.

google what you'd like to know - it'll be easier than trying to learn by following a load of chatter in a forum thread. that said, i reckon that might well be an interesting sub forum if one were to be created.
That is exactly what I'm thinking. People who have a passing interest or huge knowledge may find it interesting. There's some really interesting vlogs, clips etc that are hugely more accessible & new discoveries with technology.
I'd certainly be interested in learning outside of my interests.
Surely a few people may have more interest in this, than 30 odd pages about hating Gregg Wallace.

There would bound to huge discussion on Britain's colonial history and shaping Europe and the world, providing industry and transport with steam power.
In fact history is politics and whilst a very worthwhile idea many of us are enjoined not to discuss politics outside of the Social Conscience thread.
