Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

I think there’ll be a few offers towards the end of the window in the hope that clubs will get Nacho etc on the cheap. Our business being so public has really screwed us over.

And this just makes me sigh… everything with us is just so arduous. What have they been doing?! ‘No significant developments over the past couple of weeks.’

Time to move on. I have no doubt in my mind he is a great player. Brentford have a fair market value for him and we don't agree. I think that right sided number 10 or whatever the position is can be filled within the squad (Amad, Zirkzee, Bruno) from a creative perspective. Money could go towards a 9 or alternatively start looking at MGW at Forrest.

Exactly. Why the faffing. Just move on and get other stuff sorted. It’s this continued circling and nothingness that grinds my gears.

I think the club are trying to change the perception that they'll overpay for players, but this is the wrong situation for that. Mbeumo is realistically worth around £60-65m, compared to other similar transfers.

Outgoings were always going to be a nightmare and they simply won't happen for a decent transfer fee unless we agree to subsidise wages. Garnacho is the most appealing sale and interest still seems limited.

If the club and Amorim agree Mbeumo is the top target and a priority, surely it's not worth all this hassle over what, £5-7m? It just seems insane.

We don't know the full details of course, but the optics look very bad.

We'll be looking for a new manager in October if this carries on.

could be worse.

We've been trying to sign Ekitike now for 3 years and this is the second year for Trafford.

Might just have to wait a year or two.

Hmmm I dunno.

Wouldn't surprise me to see a deal with Napoli mid to late August with Osihmen (sp) coming our way and Garnacho going the other way.

I'm not sure about Osimhen, I think he could be an expensive mistake and he doesn't really fit the profile Amorim seems to want.

On the other hand, it's hard to argue he's not an upgrade on what we have.

United aren't going for player like Victor Osihmen, I doubt even Vlahovic on a free is something that interests them. Amorim is very clear about the team environment and cultural fit will come ahead of footballing talent. I just don't see them moving for mercenary players who have been happy to take the money but play in the Turkish league. The stance on Mbeumo is fine. Brentford are over playing their hand and United need to be patient. Better to wait and see what exits you have managed before overpaying. It's simple business basics. Unfortunately most football fans don't care about that. If Mbeumo was the missing link then you might push the boat out but we are missing so many links that we can easily pivot to other players that can strengthen the team. If we can't then our scouting system is still as broken as ever.

Yeah, I agree broadly. I think the issue is that compared to the players that have been moving around the PL this summer, Mbuemo is one of the best ones so Brentford are rightly asking for a fee that reflects that.

The big issue is that no other business seems to be happening and we have many positions that need strengthening over the next few seasons. I don't expect more than 3-4 incomings this summer but currently its sat at 1.5 and nothing else has really been touted and as we know, papers will write about United sneezing so I find it hard to believe there is much more going on behind the scenes.

We can't start the season with just Cunha added and we can't afford to wait until the death and do what we have done far too often and throw money after whoever is available.

I understand that we want to recalibrate the way we buy players but unless they really are going full scorched earth, we still need to bring players in.

Indeed. My concern is we’re supposed to be supporting this ‘big change’ and the manager. But then we’re not getting things done quickly and then immediately leaving Amorim on the back foot and in the usual media frenzy / firing line.

I genuinely don’t care about who and what, just get it all done and focus on gelling as a team and actually playing well.

I think the time to be Jim levels of frugal is when we have achieved some of this already.

Ratcliffe is on the record as saying he prefers to make a superstar rather than buy one, so the likes of Osimhein might well be a stretch. Has it not been mentioned previously that the squad needs to be trimmed and the youth players brought into the first team squad? Therefore, apart from Cunha and Mbuemo, we may not see anymore incomings.
It is all very frustrating though!

I think we've taken a view that £65m for Mbuemo was actually too cheap given than Elanga went for £55m and Madueke for £50m.

Initial asking price seemed to be £65m but for that not to include a load of unlikely-to-be-hit add-ons - as the early offers seemed to be in the 50's with far too much weighting toward add-ons.

Hopefully the club have reassessed their asking price given those other recent transfers, and asked for something that begins with a 7.

I thought you guys always wanted 70. When news broke of man utds initial bid of 55 the price quoted was 70

how dare the selling club dictate the fee. Stick an 8 on front for the giggles.
