Harry Potter HBO TV series

Was the same age as the trio when the movies was coming out also. Pretty sure most boys had crushes on Emma which continued into adulthood. She didn't really fit what the book character described her as as she was stereotypicaly pretty (at least after the first few movies) . The ball scene was supposed to be oh my god she's so beautiful look at her hair etc revealing the beauty beneath and Ron realising feelings towards her, but it didn't work as she was pretty already there wasn't any weight behind it.
She was teezed for her looks on several occasions, don't think she was described as grotesque or anything but definitely not a good looking girl (partly due to teeth hair etc) She even almost lost the part as they thought she was too cute as a kid.
But it worked anyway I guess. No doubt partly because of her looks and boys being boys.

More announcements on actors, most of the adults look like good choices. If I'm going to be overly picky, and I definitely am, the kids are all too pretty none of them are ordinary looking. Maybe it's the photos they've chosen to use which no doubt are meant to flatter but it gives me the tiniest bit of concern about Americanisation.

Parkinson as Molly might be a particularly good.

Other sources are available.

Paul Whitehouse as Finch is an excellent casting.

The kids seem fine to me. The photos are professionally taken with proper lighting etc, and they look like regular kids you'd see every day in a city or town. I suppose we'll find out when they cast Dudley whether they prioritise appearance!

What's particularly got you rattled?
There's a black guy playing Snape. Absolutely nothing else to indicate it is indeed 'pooping' over the source material. It may do of course but there is nothing released to indicate that.

Some of the casting looks like good choices - a lot of the characters are so iconic it is going to be a big challenge - Nick Frost is probably one of the few people who could portray Hagrid and make it work, but trying to fill the shoes of Snape and McGonagall* is almost a lost cause and I just can't see anyone else doing Draco Malfoy after Tom's portrayal - trying to do something different will just seem wrong, trying to emulate it will always look like a lesser version.

* Shame in some ways Chanel Williams isn't old enough to play the part - aside from being able to do a good imitation she gets McGonagall as a character with both the serious and and the whimsical sides of her.
