I can't get to the bottom of this.

I have a mouse that experiences severe lag. I don't even really use it for games, this is happening frequently on the Windows 11 desktop.

It's a logitech MX Master 3S and is connected wirelessly via the Logitech Bolt receiver/dongle, which is in a USB 2.0 slot directly in to the motherboard.

The mouse about 50cm away from the dongle, so distance isn't the issue. I think it's something to do with the PC. I have the latest BIOS (MSI x870 Tomahawk) and all the latest chipset drivers, mouse firmware updates etc.

Any ideas?

What refresh rate is the monitor set at?

Testing another mouse would be a great way of isolating the problem. If the other mouse works fine, you know your rig is good. If the other mouse isn't fine, you know it's something to do with the rig.

Other usb periperals and or dongles can interfere causing lag - I've experienced this before. Best to put the dongle in a port away from others, or better still get a cheap usb hub and put it in that. Years ago Logitech used to supply extenders with wireless mice for this reason, but stopped probably due to penny pinching.

Simple as that!

Moved the dongle to my Monitor which has USB hub and no more lag.

Thanks all.
