Just got my set of Noctua 120mm G2 Fans! Love the new fan blade design. Still the same exceptional fan and ultra quiet, you either love or hate the brown.

Got a build planned for these shortly so will post it here when it's done.

Once again special thanks to Noctua for supporting my projects and endeavors.

Wait, you got sponsored?

Darnit, I created TWO Noctua rigs (Original A12x25 and a A14x25 G2 rig), and I didn't get sponsored and had to pay for EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY NOCTUA GEAR!

:p

No really, in all honesty, grats. Can't wait to see the completed project. :)

I do! You can find all my work and projects here on my website:

I work with the majority of the major brands on my projects as it's usually a big collaboration.

Really love the new A14 G2 fans, it's actually crazy impressive how silent they are all the way up to around 1100RPM. Feels like a big step forward over the original 140mm fans they had which I always found had an annoying humming noise at 800+ RPM.

How are the G2 A12x25s @Jay85 compared to the gen 1?

I'm such a fan ( :D ) of Noctua that I'd genuinley be tempted to replace the existing 4 NF-A12x25's that I have in my current main build with the newer version. Seem a little tough to find in stock at the moment though, wonder when OcUK will have them available on site.

They seem to be an impressive upgrade but oddly enough I prefer the aesthetics of the previous fan.

Very professional photography. Well done, it looks really great.

Thank you!

£30 a fan is too much for me! haha

Premium price for a premium product i guess. Definitely something for the enthusiast crowd.

You prefer the previous blade design?

Indeed, I think it’s just a better looking fan aesthetically but that’s obviously a personal thing. The new blades just look a bit awkward to me. Although will see show the Chromax version looks. Although I currently have 6 chromax NF-A12-25’s in my case and not sure I can stomach the cost of upgrade them all haha.

So I just looked at the blades to see what you mean by "awkward" and now I get it. The longer I look at the G2's blades the more the fan blades look like a Swastika to me. Who knew Germany invented the best fan blade design back in the 1930's!

I have been thinking of these fans for a future build and as replacement fans for my old Noctua NH-U14s and U12s CPU coolers in a push pull configuration.

Not seen too many reviews on them but already read a couple of articles saying the performance is not good for the money and offers less cooling potential than cheaper alternatives.

Can anyone elaborate on the performance and competition?

I wouldn't waste your money, only change fans when they're making noises, or the pin connection has changed, ie molex fans are now useless.

Well sometimes you will want to change or buy fans based on performance and noise, or simply due to a new case having no fans or a budget fan.

As for the CPU coolers, well these have fell down the charts with regards to performance in passing years, and the stock fans on them are some of Noctua's oldest. Hence wondering if two G2 in push/pull could in theory improve CPU cooling. I know adding a second stock fan helps a little.

Not sure why anyone would be using molex, but some cases do come with rather basic 3pin cables.

I love everything about Noctua fans... except for colour. Can't stand the colour, it just doesn't work with any of the build colour schemes and ruins the aesthetics. They do have some grey/black versions, but the choices are usually limited.

And the black has a matt-finish, with appears and appear grainy. Still good, but darn expensive.
