Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

So are Man Utd stalling on the purchase by not offering what’s acceptable to Brentford or are they getting their pants pulled down and over paying? It can’t be both, can it?

It will be whatever generates the most clicks. No one seems to actually know whats been going on. Have Brentford moved the goalposts? Has £70m always been the price. Was it the structure of the deal that was the issue. Have players that aren't anywhere near as good going for over £50m changed Brentfords valuation? Who knows.

It's always been 70, when your interest broke they pointed to how much you paid for cunha and said they wanted more, hence the price tag of 70

At least Newcastle getting beat to transfers by richer more successful clubs that don’t have to worry about the pennies.

Manu is falling flat on their face in a one horse race!!

It could easily be both.

Mbuemo is a huge player for Brentford and bears significant responsibility for their success. He's worth a vast amount to them and they can charge to reflect that.

Is he objectively worth the money being touted for him? Arguably not, which is probably why only United are in for him.

Mbuemo isn't the best example of this as I don't think he's horribly overvalued. But take, say, Zaha when he was at Palace. He wasn't *that* good, but until he got older Palace rightly weren't going to sell him for less than a huge sum as he was their most important player, and some seasons the difference between them staying up or not.

At least he will get a pre season. Still massively short with signings but scoring goals was our main problem so maybe might not be such an issue if we can get 25/30 goals out of the new guys.

I am more worried about having players on the books stinking the place out more than anything.

Good to get it done.....but I'm still baffled by the other goings on.

Ok Rashford and Sancho fell out with the club, that was a mess already. But Antony, Garnacho, Malacia.....to tell them not to bother turning up to pre-season without having any buyer for them is insane. What do we do if they don't get sold?

If you're an optimist you think that deals are being done to move them on.....but it does not seem a great strategy.

71m, ouch. Still dont know where cunha, mbeumo and fernandes all fit into amorims system - a long side an actual striker. Putting fernandes as one of the middle 2 is a fools game.

Hah, chumps. They will never see a penny of those add-ons.

"Finish top 10 £1m" - Good luck
"Get European Football £2m" - Do one!
I don't like pasting AI results....but I asked Claude Opus roughly where we might have finished last season, with a 30-goal striker. It reckons 25-30 additional points so a 5-7th position.

OPTIMISTIC MODE ENGAGED

(yes I know Mbuemo isn't a 30 goal striker)

Pleased the Mbeumo deal is finally agreed.

There are only 3 positions in Amorim’s system he could possibly play, and none are his natural right wing position - #10, #9 and RWB (at a push).

Cunha will be playing left #10, so as it stands I’d probably put Mbeumo at striker, or the other #10 position.

I wonder if he plans to keep using Amad at RWB?

In an ideal world we’d go out now and buy a proper striker too, but no sign of that, and we’ll need some player sales…

I guess Fernandes deeper/holding role (don't like him there but so be it) - Mbeumo up top and Cunha in number 10 behind.... But still lacking proper wide players that way.

I imagine that Cunha and Mbuemo will largely be the two 10s and Amad will be a RWB along with Dalot. I think we will also see quite a lot of rotation of the forward line.

Arguably next season the front 3 positions will be shared between.

Amad
Cunha
Mbuemo
Mount
Bruno
Zirkzee
Obi
Hojlund

Depending on how Obi/Hojlund do, we might end up with Mbuemo being rotated in that strikers role.

Not a bad lineup apart from Hojlund.

I do think Zirkzee has something about him and could feature a lot. One of those players that seems to change a game so probably do well starting on the bench.
