The Manchester United Club Thread **Sponsored by Comedy Central**

I wasn't expecting much movement on transfers before 1st July due to finances, but it's a little disappointing it's this quiet a week later. 12 days to go until the first pre-season game.
The most significant thing that has happened is the clear message to Rashford, Sancho, Garnacho, Antony and Malacia that they are being allowed extra time to find another club. That's the clearest sign that the manager is being backed and a line is being drawn. It's a strong signal and whilst I'm under no illusion that clearing these players out will be troublesome it sets a decisive tone and gets control of the narrative.

I always said I'd be more swayed by exits in the first place than any incomings.

Theres something funny about the fact that as far as I know, the entirety of Uniteds income from transfers this summer has been from other clubs selling our ex-players and us getting a kick back.

Indeed. We are truly atrocious at selling players. Doesn’t help that it’s well publicised who we want rid of. As I mentioned in the main transfer thread, it’s just going to be a case of not getting any serious offers until the end of the window, if at all. And even then it’ll be trying to get them on the cheap, I imagine.

So now Mbeumo is a done deal, who’re people hoping for next? What position? :)

I’m assuming there’ll need to be a sale or two before further developments, unless there’s someone we’ve got an eye on for a low fee. I saw rumours of Senne Lammans, the Royal Antwerp goalie.

Amass is going out on loan too. Probably hoping he bulks up a bit more in the next year.

Before reading the end ot the first sentence..

Got to be a keeper after last season!

Priorities have to be CM and GK surely. Mbuemo and Cunha along with the rest of our attacking minded players (excluding our actual strikers obviously) give us enough goals for what will be expected next season. I genuinely believe that either we will play a more fluid front 3 without Hojlund/Obi if they don't pick up their numbers or those guys will start scoring more once we start looking a bit better as a team and put some results together.

Brunos partner in the middle needs sorting out and from what we have seen Ugarte and Casemiro aren't the guys to partner Bruno.

GK is a gimme because Onana is not only generally poor, he has far too many game changing howlers in his locker.

Keeper is something we need to improve before we start competing again but there are so many bigger priorities. I'd rather get a CM, Striker and LWB (ideally on loan) first.

We have Leon, Dorgu and Amass all fighting for one LWB slot. RWB is weaker as neither Dalot or Amad are ideal there. Central midfield is a problem still. Ugarte and Casemiro are not reliable in the EP and as @fez states, it is unlikely that Bruno can play that role in every match. It will leave us physically exposed against some teams. Really we only have Collyer who has any expereince in that role and his injury record is poor. I'd be happy if Amorim brings on Kone and Collyer even if it's just to increase their value for a summer 26 exit.

I think we are in ok shape for this season and expect a big improvement. Assuming the "bomb squad" all move on, Amorim should have fewer distractions, a more harmonious squad and more time training. IF he can't turn that into top 8 then questions will have to be asked. The big question will be what happens if we lose important players to long term injury - that always happens but Bruno aside I don't see anyone as irreplaceable.

Our biggest issue will be expectation management. Realistically City and Liverpool are in a different stratosphere, Arsenal might not be far behind and Chelsea you would expect to be better despite a very credible 4th place. If we are realistic, United need to be fighting with Villa, Newcastle, Spuds for fifth. That's no disrespect to Brighton, Brentford, Fulham, Bournemouth and Forest but we still have a good squad, supposedly a great coach and no fixture overload.

Still too many entitled fans or Youtubers bemoaning the lack of signings. I'm quite satisfied and keen to see what the coach can do in terms of honing the application and play style.

Amass is going out on loan, I'd expect Leon to be in the reserves this year, this is why we could do with a shorter term option ideally. Dalot and Amad are fine RWB, I think moving on either of them would be a mistake.

Just saw this - so fair enough. Maybe slimline Luke fancies a run at that position :)

According to the Athletic, the 5 out of favour players have been told to report for training after 5pm when the other first team players have left. It is typical Amorim from what i have read about Sporting player, Islam Slimami in '23. Completely frozen out from the first team.

If we can off load these 5, not really liking adding Antony into that as he just wasnt suitable for the Prem and not a complete diva like the other 4, so if these 5 go, have we any more divas (minus Antony) in the squad, any more massive egos that will rock the dressing room?

I cant think of any current Utd player who is!

It probably doesn’t come as a surprise if true, but ESPN are suggesting Garnacho, Malacia, Sancho and Antony won’t be travelling with the rest of the squad to Chicago tomorrow.
