NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - (PRE)ORDER DISCUSSION **NO COMPETITOR HINTING**

Picked up a 5090 FE ... cos it's going to improve my race times in Forza ;)

I mean, a 2K investment into lowering lap times is only logical !

Well that was great timing, been building a new system yesterday and today and the only thing missing was a 5080 FE, now it arrives Monday! Means I don't have to faff with taking the GPU out of my old machine temporarily, lots of hassle saved.

5080 is a really good card, Just wish it came with 24GB from the get go.

Yes I did contemplate waiting a little longer to see what the rumoured 5080 Super etc turn out like, but I got some excellent deals last week thanks to Prime day etc on the rest of the hardware I wanted so went for it now. It'll still be a huge upgrade over my 3060Ti. :)

What happened with the ROPS, where some GPUs didn't have the full amount?

Was that just a small portion of random launch cards?

Apparently a very small percentage and those that were affected would just RMA with the board maker. It certainly hasn't been as big of an issue as the 12VHPWR connect melting problem has been.

For anyone still needing to check their 5000 series cards then Nvidia has a guide right here...

This is the thing which concerns me the most, which is why I'll be undervolting when I get the card. I wonder how many people on these forums have been affected ? My impression is hardly any.

It certainly seems like a very low percentage of people affected, much like the ROP issue. When browsing pc hardware related subreddits, that low percentage becomes "a lot more" people with the amount of traffic that site gets vs the cozy amount of traffic we get here. As such it always seems like a bigger issue when only taking into account what you see over there.

We certainly had one person with the missing ROPs problem and there have been a fair few melting 4090s over the last couple of years. I don't think we've yet had anybody hit by a melted 5090 connector yet, but the number of those cards in circulation is still low.
