Gamers, What's Your Audio Set Up?

It's a fairly common thing to do. Lots of examples on reddit. 2 Alex drawer kits and a Karlby counter top, mine is 186cm. My mate had done this exact thing on his PC a couple of years back, and it's still going strong. I rent, and live alone, so when I moved in here, I had the landlord/agency remove the bed from the smallest bedroom and it's where my "office" is.

In the corner there, hiding.

My dear scroll up a page or two. This unit has been discussed a lot by actual owners of the product!

Just buy it!

lol. Sorry! Not a regular on this thread, but saw the review and thought it looked good! Seems many on here prefer the Luxsin x9? Not really a fair comparison though, considering the price difference. Think the DX5 II will shift quite a few units...

For the price, the DX5 II is great, especially when some people got it for £224, I got mine for £255. However, comparing it to my Xduoo XA-20, which is like £100 cheaper one RRP, I got mine for £186, I think the Xduoo does somethings better, such as I think it sounds better with my Hifiman (but the Topping sounds better with HD600) and also no bugs but it also has fewer features so less to go wrong in the first place.

The simplicity of the Xduoo also means it won't be dated as fast, the screen is like something out of the 80's car stereo lol (but OLED)

Ive just had the 24v power supply delivered for my fosi v3, this is the minimum voltage supported by it and previously I was using the 32v supply. Man these class D TPA3255-based things really are over specc'd for a bookshelf setup power wise. Even on the minimum voltage powering a pair of 3020i speakers I have to have my dac/pre set to -30db output to get a usable range on the amps own volume pot. Had a look at the spec sheet for my avr and its only 50w per channel and its powering some floorstanders, compared to this thing that's peak is 300w at max voltage and around 100w on this supply.

New X9 firmware out with new VU meters and stuff, typical all going on this week and I'm away!

It had earlier beta OTAs but not the latest it seems, could try manually installing it though if the file is provided

I think it needs windows? I'll have to investigate.

Okay, figured out how....but i can't find the latest firmware online.

https://luxsinaudio.com/en/pages/download.

The file online 1.0.0.10

Whereas the one listed is 1.0.0.13

So where is 1.0.0.13 at?

Local Upgrade

Download the Luxsin X9 firmware upgrade package from the official website and copy it to the root directory of a USB flash drive.
Insert the USB drive into the USB-A port on the device.
Go to About > Upgrade, then select “Local Update” and choose the upgrade file.

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade. The device will automatically reboot upon completion.

Note:

• Do not unplug the USB drive or power off the device during the upgrade process. • It is recommended to use a FAT32-formatted USB drive.
• Do not unzip the downloaded upgrade file.

I see the Topping DX5 Mk 2 has been very positively rated by Amir on ASR :D
Remember this is all measurements based only, the sound is what matters most and isn't always related to what a measurement says unless it's all over the place on which case inference can be made easily. So yeah as we have already found, what headphones you have will dictate what the sound is like, either lacking in upper end detail and sounding mushy, or sounding great.

For me it didn't meet my expectations for sound or polished software experience, but it was cheap so there is that.

I found the K11 R2R to sound better with Hifiman for comparison, no loss in upper end clarity and a wider soundstage so the K13 R2R must be even better going by what people heard at CanJam and that should cost around the same as the DX5 2's RRP so I don't see any reason to bother with the DX unless space is a big issue.

Honestly thats the exact opposite of my experience of the k11 r2r, the upper end was lacking in detail and its sound stage from the headphone outputs was reduced compared to its line out on the back and other dacs I had for comparison. The lacking treble detail is linked to the r2r dac and the soundstage seems to be its amp implementation. The k13 appears to have fixed these issues so they were clearly aware of them.
