Case&fans for clean&quite white build

Hi all

I am probably gonna build a new PC within a year or so and have started looking into it. What I seem most uncertain of is what case and fans to go with.

If I was to upgrade now I would go for a Ryzen 7 9700X/9800x3d + 9700 XT build.

So what am I looking for?
- White and clean/stylish looking.
- Quite as possible when not under heavy load - I am a bit noise sensitive.
- RGB undecided, but I like it when it is done in a stylish manner.
- Air or AIO - the latter looks great but I have no experience with them
- Fairly easy installation - I have only build a couple of PCs.

My current build is Ryzen 9 3900X + GTX 1080 in a Fractal Design R5 with the Scyth Fuma 2 cpu cooler and 3 Fractal case fans - just to give you an idea what I am used to. I run custom fan curves.

I have seen some really good looking builds in the Lian Li 011 Vision with glass top but find the fan configuration a bit confusing with the AIO having to do pull. Also the builds are usually done with the Lian Li GA AIO + UNI Fan SL case fans which are quite expensive. I have the money, but it needs to be worth it.
I also like the look of the Fractal Design North. This also looks like a more simple build but I am worried that it is not a good case for a quite operation.

So yeah, I know that what I am asking is a little vague, but all suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance :)

Hi all

Thanks in advance :)

regarding the 011 vision build, the provoked prawn does a good review on it with dsifferent builds..worth a watch..personally with the vision, I'd use a aio as half the piont of it is the totally goldfish bowl open look, esp with the glass roof...otherwise it might just look like a giant lump with a big air cooler...you can the 360mm aio in either a push or pull config...just have 3 bottom fans intake..either the aio pulls air through the rad into the case also(cpu get clean air from outside) and then 2 fans expelling at back (so will end up 6 intake(3 thru rad), 2 out)...or put the bottom and rear as intake(so 5 intake), and have the aio push air out (so 5 intake, 3 out take thu the rad)

the fractal north is more traditional..just remember the case isn't that deep, so wont be a lot of room around the gpu if you get a big one..it's why they then release the xl version
if you're not botthered about rgb, I'd go with that or the lian li 217..comes with 5 fans as standard

pretty much most cases can be tuned to be quiet if yourun custom fan curves. my recent build for my son used a nv5 case with d30's and on 1st boot up was like a jet engine..going into bios all the fans were set to 100% so 8 fans going was quite lound...quick adjustment and it's now silent

also for white build, HU go thru all the 9070xt's..well most of them, and he was impressed with the hellhound(white version), as not only was the shroud white, the the rad was white and even the pcb was white

Probably the best fans in white for noise and performance I think would be either the be quiet Pure Wings 3 High Speed PWM Fan or the be quiet Light Wings LX Reverse ARGB PWM White Fan.

@Craig_d1 I agree if I go with a "fish tank" it will be AIO - and thank you for the link to the videos, had already seem the HU one, there seems to be more than one good option :)
What AIO and fans would people recommend for a build like this? As mentioned I see a lot of builds using Lian Li GA AIO + UNI Fan SL but are they worth the premium price ? @Firegod Are the pure and light wings identical in performance and how do they compare to silent wings?

I've got SLuni infinity fans in my 011d evo case..yup, expensive, yup, prob no better than fans 1/3rd price, but they look good, and the fact could group the fans together and have just 1 cable going to the hub just saved so much hassle from my previous where had 9 fans each with their own pwm and rgb cable, going to 2 rgb hubs and a 3rd hub for power and usb. for me, I was happy to pay the extra, but it's totally a personal choice...I ccould afford it, and was happy to pay as liked the look etc...plenty people would rather save the money and getting a case with preinstalled fans can save a ton of money
everyone hastheir own taste/requirements
if you went with lian li fans sl- infinity fans, I'd prob look at the gallahad II trinity sl-inf aio for £159, as it comes with 3 infinity fans on it..(as I'd want the cvonsistency of it looking the same)...but pretty much any 360mm will keep a 9800x3d cool...just choose one with a decent warranty...if you went with the lian li 217 case with 5 non rgb fans, just any white aio will do ranging from a thermalright aqua elite 360 for $40.99 on offer at mo, all the wasy up to a tryx panorama 360 se for £250 if you want a massive oled screen or whatever it has on it..if jkust after cooling the arctic freezer 2 has thicker rads(so check you'll need to check it has clearance in case), but you have to like the look( I personally don't like the pump head look, but I can't fault the performance)
I can throw up a couple builds with a 9800x3d and a 9070xt...just to show how price can differ depending on case/fans etc...you can end up spending an awful lot of money on looks if you're not careful

and now the vision case with the galahad II aio...i set it for pushing air out the case, so bottom and rear would be reverse blade intake fans. i did change the ram for 6000C28 ram...just not a great deal of choice for white ram, and though £10 more for c28 better than C30...but worth shopping around. apart from that price difference in now case and fans so you can see how price escalates quickly

edit..found some corsaair veangance rgb 6000C36 in white elsewhere for £105...so for comparable to 1st build, same speed ram, price would be £2010.. or cas 30 for £124

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,045.82 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Thank you for your suggestions.
Dont worry about the cpu mb and such I will figure that out :)
The vision build - In your build you seem to have a negative air pressure? Lian Li recommends the pull AIO config + 3 intake buttom and 2 fans rear pushing air out. If I want to go with the recommended I need to buy the AIO + 6 reverse fans (3 for the AIO and 3 for the buttom, then use 2 normal fans from the AIO in the rear).

Searching a bit the Be Quite Light Loop + wings might be a good cheaper alternative? Only the fan hub/controlling sounds like a pain and this is one of the areas where I have little experience.

no..the one i did is positive air pressure...thae aio is expelling air..so 3 out..the bottom 3 and rear 2 are reverse blade so pulling air in...so have 5 in, 3 out..that's poisitve air pressure..if you want the aio drawing in, you'd need to get 2 3 packs of reverse blades...keep the aio on the side but take off the fans..use 2 of them on the rear to take air out the case...put 3 reverse fans on the aio drawing air in and 3 reverse on the bottom drawing air in...that'll have 6 intake and 2 exhaust..the positive air pressure will push air out all the gaps anyway, but both configs will be positive air pressure (you want more air coming in than going out, otherwise negative air pressure just becomes a dust magnet)

Sorry I misread the basket did not see the 3 pack reversed.

Yes thats exactly the setup I was thinking of.

Thanks for the help
