Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

If anything we have undervalued Isak.

If bundesliga merchants are going for 91m euros and over 100m.

Then best Stiker in Europe last season is worth half a billion.

meh, yous lot are just scared we would have haggled you down to 50 quid and a weeks supply of Greggs sausage rolls, i wouldn't want to try an negotiate with our lot either :p

Some of our fans are turning their nose up at Wissa, I don’t think for one second we will get him(Brentford won’t deplete their squad that much) but if we did he would be a cracking edition.

Interesting, ESPN are reporting that Brentford changed their asking price for Mbeumo multiple times during negotiations and wanted to sell to Spurs or Newcastle instead.

We won’t entertain his wage demands, our highest paid player is Bruno on £160k a week, we would have smashed our wage structure, which would have made at least 4 current players want to at least match his wages.

It's nonsense. Been confirmed at our end. Just lies for clicks.

We may have agreed to a different structure to a bid as new bids came in, but the news in the press from the very first day of this saga was that we wanted more than Wolves received for Cunha... and £65m is only a little bit more than the £62.5m Wolves got.

It's going to be tough watching him in a Man United shirt.

Those players in our Championship squads have done alright... two to Arsenal, two to Villa, one to West Ham, one off to Saudi on the biggest contract in history for an English footballer, and now one to Man United.

Do you think we have a chance for Wissa? 19 goals from open play last season, rapid as ****, brilliant on the counter, can play across all three forward positions. He's perfect for us

Reported wage figures are more often than not nonsense. For example @the wopster mentions Newcastle's highest earner being on £160k per week but some fag packet calculations based on Newcastle's wages from their accounts would suggest the average first team wage is in the £130k region. Based on that I'd be amazed if there aren't a number of players earning more than £160k.

His scoring record is genuinely excellent. 45 goals in 92 x 90s. Virtually one in every two games, made all the more difficult playing for a mid/low table side and also not being a first choice starter for two and a half seasons.

Only Salah scored more non-penalty goals than him last season, and he drew for non-penalty goals scored with Isak and Haaland, who I believe cost a tad more than the £8m Wissa did

I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to sign him, but I can understand not wanting to sign him for the likely £50m we'll ask for. He's 29 soon. You'd get lots of goals from him, but that money could be spent on someone younger.

If you paid the money. Lots of change at Brentford this summer, but we're approaching the "too much change" point. You'd likely have to overpay a little to get him. But there aren't many strikers still available who could hit the ground running in the Prem and almost guarantee you goals.

His goalscoring has always been there. Last season it was his link-up play that was most impressive. His ability to drift away from challenges and create room for himself when dropping deep.

£50m I would consider a fair price TBH, get 3 years out of him and then move him on to Saudi for £25-30m

A lot of that could be bonuses, I remember a while ago the club trying to renegotiate a lot of player contract bonuses, apparently Mike Ashley was overly generous with them in contract’s(knowing he would never have to pay them as we never tried in cups or the league) ie £1m bonus for champions league qualification, £500k for a cup win, stuff like that.

And this applies to all clubs. Whether it's basic pay, goal bonuses, bonuses for x or y, the bottom line is Newcastle's last set of accounts show a £219m wagebill, which would equate to (roughly speaking) an average first team wage of around £130k per week.
