Let's talk about interiors

The middle panel in my iX has buttons, including a 3D surround view button, and they all work very well. The only thing I would change is swap the 'Tel' button for a 'Climate' button. Climate is used much more often and I don't need to access my phone book from here. You can also feel these as the icons/text are raised above the panels

I like the way new car interior's are going. I personally don't miss the dials and buttons of old.

BMW have previewed the interior for the new iX3 launching later this year, which has a pano screen spanning across the area the below windscreen, which I think looks

You missed my satire for Nasher. I was suggesting the button had the actual view on it as

“Those are basic car functions which should be physical buttons anyway. They just made everything awkward by putting it on a screen.”

Clearly they are not.

Is it easy to empty to ashtray in your iX

Touch controls in cars? Brilliant idea, because clearly, everyone loves playing "Operation" at 70mph. Just give us proper physical buttons. Functional ones, preferably located where human hands actually go.

But why ‘invest’ the software when no one uses it. Would rather focus on the car. And one is legal to use the other isn’t. My phone doesn’t have a 12.9 inch screen either.

Which EVs have you driven again ?

I think the interior in my G11 LCI is about perfect. Yes, the screen is a bit 'stuck on' at the top, but everything else is very well thought out, super tactile, but it has all the functionality of the latest cars without forcing you to touch the screen.

I've driven the widescreen iDrive 8 cars a lot and while it's ok, I don't know how anyone can argue it isn't a step backwards in many respects.

Personally prefer having a digital dash plus a decent screen for Carplay, Waze etc. Definitely feel as though I have the perfect combination in my mk7.5 Golf, plus proper buttons/controls for the important functions:

See, they can do it right if they try. That is a nice dash and everything looks like it "belongs" there and not added on as a afterthought. I find that Polestar interior to be utterly bland and looks terrible, same with that BMW preview, it's horrible.

This is where the gear stick is usually located - so yes, hands go there :)

They are buttons - you can feel them.

Also, it takes a few days to develop the muscle memory of where they are, so you never have to look.
