Are Chavs/Charvas actually more likely to be dangerous compared to other groups of people (ie Goths/Nerds etc)?

In my experience, chavs are the group that'll get aggressive with people they don't know.

I went to private school, no chavs there, and still plenty of bullying going on, but the distinction is these people knew each other.

I grew up in Hull, a city with lots of poverty and therefore lots of chavs, and some notorious chav ghetto estates I wouldn't dare go to. One of my earliest memories is my dad getting mugged by a group of chavs, laid up in bed for days/weeks with a swollen face. As a teenager I was mugged a few times. Each time a group of chavs would see me coming and approach, an opportunistic attack on a total stranger. I was spat at, punched, robbed, and threatened with a deadly weapon (knife) on three occasions.

So yeah I wish death on the non-chav bullies and also the random chavs who attacked me. The world would be a better place without them. I can totally understand why there'd be a group online who'd all had similar experiences.

Are modern goths a bit more feisty than the originals?

The Sisters of Mercy fans and The Mission fans didn’t care for each other, but it was never a Mods and Rockers style pitched street battle.

Chavs are generally poor and uneducated which causes them to go around with a massive chip on their shoulder. They have a problem with authority and so a tendency towards crime, and aggressiveness. So yeah.

If I see a 6’4 tattooed dude with a beard, jeans, trucker cap and Vans on his feet I wouldn’t be wary of him at all. Some skinny **** in a tracksuit and a sling bag riding a beeping Lime bike down the street— yeah I’d be wary.

Chav culture
Culture?? What culture, it’s a bunch on bell ends who most other people their own age don’t like so they band together wearing their rip off designer trackies and baseball caps and annoy the *** **** out of everyone else with their scummy behaviour. It’s not a culture, it’s a disease. I imagine it won’t be long till your reproducing for them - if indeed you even are a girl.

People in general are ****. It's amazing we made it this far

So charva is not just a female chav? Like when Russian women just have the same name as their dad but with "va" on the end?

First post! I'm bored, turned 18 a few months ago, and this is something I've been curious about. At least where I live, Chav/Charva culture (the original word is "Charva", "Chav" is the shortened form of it) is becoming trendy again (just search "Charva" on TikTok) and I have a crush on this guy who is one. My parents are like "don't you know that type is dangerous". Every Charva/Chav I've met has been really nice to me, at least the guy ones. More than any other subculture. When I was younger the only clique that didn't bully me were the Charvas/Chavs. Yes, tracksuit and baseball hat wearing, gold chain wearing ones. They were a bit rough around the edges initially but they were cool and protected me from the bullies so ever since I've had a soft spot for them.

I was really shocked at how the media (both official and social) demonised them so much. I found some old site from the 2000's where literally everyone on the site was talking about how they wanted all chavs to die. How they're really dangerous (usually citing a case that's years old as proof).

So are they actually more likely to be dangerous compared to other subcultures in my area and I just got lucky, or are they just demonised a lot so it looks that way?
