I’m a fan, but he needs to retire
And what do you think about Alonso who’s been doing a grand total of **** all for many years now? 12 in fact since his last win. Get your blinkers off.

Great lap by Norris, nice little statement there as it looked like Piastri was in charge. Great job by Leclerc too.

Tbh Alonso hasn’t really achieved much at Aston, maybe next year will finally be good.

Was thinking of this myself;
Hamilton really has not got the hang of the new cars, and Ferrari really cannot build a decent car…

He really needs to call it quits;
He hasn’t even been on a main race podium (he did win sprint at China…)

Maybe see if next years regs make any difference

What about Alonso?

And what about Alonso?

Schumacher had four years at Ferrari before he won anything btw.
Yes but he was very close in the second year.
And third (1997 and 1998).

Hamilton hasn’t really set the world alight since the rules were changed for 2022….
That’s the problem

I thought Alonso and Hamilton were easily best of the rest in 2023. I think this year both are suffering as their cars are rubbish. Hamilton is trying to drive an unfamiliar car against an established and very fast team mate. Alonso has had terrible luck and the car is a dog.

Both are typically better in the race than qually, especially against the younger drivers, but these cars and tyres are dire and only work in clean air so that's pretty much neutered.

He was very good in 2023. Beat Russell and came third in the championship (Russell was 8th!).

However I do think he has lost something now. I never expect him to do well in qualifying now. He's just too inconsistent and can't put three good sectors together anymore.

I think Alonso is past it now too . Ultimately I think once an F1 driver gets to around 40 it's probably game over.

At this point its just good for sponsorship for the team and the drivers get to still race an F1 car. Give him a car a decent bit faster than the rest and he could do it, but I suspect he’s lost both the hunger and the concentration.

Yeh. I mean he's still very good. But you can't rely on him to deliver (especially in qualy) anymore. I think he'll still show glimpses of his 'goatness' from time to time, but ultimately, the much younger stars have the fitness and mental sharpness to deliver greatness almost all the time.

It will happen to them all, even Max.
