My microwave oven formed a hole at the bottom of it one day so I packed it away with the intention of repairing it but it had been stuck in a corner gathering dust for nearly two years now and I mainly use my air fryer to cook food, so clearly I don't need a microwave, I thought, time to get it out and strip it as I was interested in reusing the transformer for a regulated power supply build project.

I was curious about the magnetron but no way would I ever be connecting power to that, so I watched some YouTube videos about it, it turns out the magnetrons really are not that great for very much. I'll keep it tho. I took out the big capacitor, the fan, and transformer.

I'll probably need to change one of the windings on the transformer to get more current from it but as it is, its a nice beefy transformer and wouldn't really need anymore than 20 amps from it at 13.8 volts.

Just curious if anybody else had made stuff from microwave oven parts?

I buy a new one weekly, strip it down, add a couple of flux capacitors and BAM! Instant hot tub time machine.

Pretty cool. We should compare notes.

I tend to just take the door off and use them as a night light, no side effects so far. In fact everyone keeps saying I'm positively glowing

Iirc i have seen people making battery welders for when they are making battery packs.

Has to be said, this can be very dangerous, do your research and be carefull.
