Road Cycling

You must have been a beast on 10+ hours a week!
I wasn't expecting a call from Mr Brailsford, but I was as good as doing 4W/Kg 320W for 20mins aged 48, beating segment PBs and some top tens for fun...

How things change (~2W/Kg 190W now)!

that frame is on my list as well..
iCan Graro as well - found a brand called Racoon Bikes and on clocer investigation I've found they are using iCan frames...so why pay more for a rebrand ;)

from bigger manufacturers, basso palta and ridley astr are on top of my list...

I've had 2 ican bikes now. Had the A8 road bike and now the X-Gravel. Also using one of their wheelsets.

Honestly can't fault them, and the paint quality is far superior to my Trek

haha! work from home, hit the bed around midnight and up at 840am. Not complaining, it's great to have time to sleep.. but yeah if I slept less I could do more - in theory, or would I just be tired and not have energy? ;)
Haha yeah I'm not saying I couldn't sleep that long if I had the time... I'm definitely a night owl so it would only come from being able to sleep in... But I have a 6.45 alarm for 8 ish (work start at the office) so I lose 2 hours on you there...! I have a 7.15 set on saturdays to catch the club ride (or be ready for any , so really sunday is often my only chance to 'catch up'.

But we seem to get used to a similar amount each night don't we? Creatures of habit. Certainly when I'm quite 'rested' and not running some sleep debt (becomes normal) it can then be hard to sleep longer when the opportunity arises. I spent many years sleeping 4-5 hours 'normal' when I was far more unhealthy food and lifestyle wise - lots of gaming/no physical exercise etc. These days I sleep a lot better and easier from being physically tired and running a bit of time debt. Much healthier lifestyle too! :)

Alton Towers for us tomorrow so no club ride for me (swapped from last weekend due to weather). Planning to get out on sunday if I can, I'm overdue visiting Gospel pass after missing it on a club ride months ago. Need to do Arthurs Stone as well, I did initially think to loop in The Tumble and do a properly brutal day, but really think that's wouldn't be a good idea with current fitness! Need to build back a bit and get some climbing legs... For an amazing summer so far I've really not done any long solo rides, all social club runs which don't tend to be that adventurous or hard.

Been a while since I done any road riding, sold it a while back but with knee and back injuries mountain biking is getting tougher.

Been looking at the endurace. With di2. Is there anything else to consider? Ideally less than 3k. The endurace seems to hit the value for money aspect!

Ahh interesting, I presumed that tpu wouldn’t be as good. I’ve not had any problems with them so I’m quite happy running them in the tires. Add the fact that the tubes cost £3-£5 from Aliexpress (cyclami green) and I can’t complain. Makes things much simpler as the tubeless tape elite wheels provided was a bit meh.
How are you finding your Elite wheels? Wondering about a set as an upgrade next spring

Not done many ks on them yet probably 70-80 now but no issues at all.

They’re very true, packaged well, hubs smooth, no marks anywhere that I can see and the internal rim has had no imperfections etc. Only average thing in my opinion was the included tubeless tape, way too stiff and not sticky enough to apply properly. The rest I’m really happy with.

Rear hub is also very loud which may be a thing you like, I personally don’t care too much about it.

They also arrived much quicker than their Aliexpress shop estimated, was meant to get here end of September but realistically it took only 3 weeks from ordering.

Yup. Being physically tired really helps me get good sleep. Also the fact that I’m very consistent with it.. apparently catching up on sleep is a myth. Oversleeping is also as bad as not sleeping enough which I found very interesting..

That’s good. The tracking for mine is still showing that the flight departed the 22nd July but it doesn’t seem to have ever landed!

Hopefully still arrive quicker than initially expected as the building and dispatch time was a lot quicker than suggested.

Which set did you order ? What delivery did you pick? I went for the gravel ent set. Think the main difference is spoke count to deal with “extra” stress off road.

Ah mines not from Elite.

I went for the 9velo GV45 with the titanium hub and 46t ratchet.

Ahh nice! 32mm internal will be plush. Allows tire to sit nicely and gives you more cushioning. I didn’t feel like spending that much for my set at this time hence the elite wheels.

After a dusty ride, looks kinda cool covered in dust.

lovely visit to Kent lanes today...been good 2 years if not longer

Yep, I absolutely love cycling around here. So many little lanes to explore. Only thing you have to occasional deal with is a **** in a car who won't slow don't as they barrel towards you far too fast.

Interesting, I’m only in Horsham and the drivers here genuinely seem absolutely fine. I’ve had maybe one idiot in the last few weeks.

I have a KOM on part of the Biggin Hill airport run way :D Sounds like the old route I used to do a lot when I lived in SE London.

I miss cycling in kent, suffolk sucks... it's soooo flat :(

Did my first ever group ride on Friday. Really enjoyed it and it's shocking how much it helps being behind somebody!

Really like my boardman. It ain't fancy but it's plenty fast enough and I like the way it handles.
