Party in the pitlane... Kimi, Lewis and Nando are all starting from the pitlane due to PU changes, also Sainz should be joining them with a party invite after mechanical and aerodynamic set-up changes of car number 55 without the approval of the FIA technical delegate.

Smart move to introduce a new engine when you've had a bad qualy?

Or risky to run new PU if it's wet with a much higher chance of stuffing it all in the wall?

Just seems a weird choice - unless it was forced - since surely the rain makes the amount of power less of an advantage/disadvantage and you've got a higher risk of damaging the new unit. Although maybe they're doing it because they want to change the setup to better suit the conditions anyway.

This is what I don’t get, they could just drive slower as long as they aren’t aquaplaning. If they crash, they crash.

Drive slower and the tyres cool and give less grip.

Hence they should actually use the wet tyres.

Adds another engine or components to the available pool so might save a penalty later in the season.

Rosberg really is an idiot isn't he. Says Hulk 'lacks social skills' because he should have been in a top team and he didn't get there.. right, makes sense.

It's more that they've all had a crap quali session, can get the penalty out of the way and grab an extra set of PU parts, rather than specifically wanting to take advantage of higher power.

Hamilton for example has just bypassed a '60 place grid penalty' to take a full new extra set of engine components.

In the wet they'll catch the pack almost instantly, so the penalty is virtually nil and the lottery of a potential wet race means they could still luck into some points too.

It's the best opportunity to take the components 'for free' and have the safety of a whole extra set for the rest of the season.
