I think the medium will drop off pretty hard somewhere towards the end of the race and Norris will have a chance to close up with his Hards.

Remember, a few years back when Hamilton was on different strategy (because RB messed and waited too long the first time round) and he closed up and passed on fresher tyres. It doesn't happen all the time but it can still happen.

You never really get huge drop off anymore though, the cliff is more like a gradual slope as oppossed to the Pirelli cheese tyre era where they literally just stopped working like an off/on switch.

I don't think he was going to catch him even without the mistakes.

Hard tyre may have been the wrong call. Hard to judge given he's the only driver to use it.
