Exactly. I can’t fault the women’s team for their commitment to the very end of each and every match. It seemed over today and in the last match. We’ve seen far too many where the men’s team just can’t be bothered.

I do wonder if, say, Gareth Southgate had been in charge of the women's team leading up to 2021 and stayed till now, whether the lionesses would have won either euro. Perhaps they wouldn't have. By the same token, it makes me wonder if Sarina Wiegman had been in charge of the men's team, if they would have won the euros.

One certainly can’t argue against Wiegman’s stats. Impressive.
 
I'm going to have to listen to people displaying the banal show of jingoism in the office and pretending they were really invested in it. At least I'm honest about it (disliking football generally)/
 
Not gonna lie, that young girl on the podium was the best bit of the show. Had me cracking up. She would not let anyone past without a handshake and was so happy to be up there.
 
Who was the player of the match do you think, Russo or Kelly? Kelly set up the goal for Russo and without Russo Spain would probably have won. But Kelly crossed the ball to Russo, and Kelly scored the winning penalty so I guess she has to be the player of the match.

Kelly changed the whole tempo and shape of the team. Gotta be her.

I watched 3 of England's games and I thought the standard was terrible. From my biased viewpoint they weren't the better team in the QF, SF or Final. As for the two shootouts meh. the one in the final was marginally better than the Sweden match but the standard was just pap. I don't expect womens football to be like mens but pen taking shouldn't be that different. Anyway, congrats to them they hung in there and found a way.
