OCUK Gaming Osprey graphics card upgrade

My son has the above system and wants to upgrade the graphics card to an Asus Prime 9070XT.

It's a long time since I even looked inside a pc (back in the ATi days), will he need a new cable for the card as none of the cables included in the build have a 3 x 8 pin cable which the 9070XT requires?

You just need to check if the psu meets the spec of the card (wattage etc). If it does it might have the extra pcie cables if you have them somewhere. If not you would want to upgrade the psu and the new one would have the cables.

I’m pretty sure there are ‘high power’ cards with higher boost clocks that have two 8 pin connectors?

You should have TWO of the 2x 8 pin (6+2) cables - use 2 connectors from one of the cables, and 1 connector from the other

you should have looked at how many, and what pin connectors the current gpu is using, then bought appropriately, the 5060 takes x2 8pin connectors for example.
just send the9070XT back, it was a silly buy anyway.

He sdid send the 9070xt back and got the non xt instead.
