Gamers, What's Your Audio Set Up?

Honestly thats the exact opposite of my experience of the k11 r2r, the upper end was lacking in detail and its sound stage from the headphone outputs was reduced compared to its line out on the back and other dacs I had for comparison. The lacking treble detail is linked to the r2r dac and the soundstage seems to be its amp implementation. The k13 appears to have fixed these issues so they were clearly aware of them.
What headphones was that with?

My findings were the same with the DAC stage too btw.

Maybe it just has an issue with low impedance loads, It would be interesting if someone could measure it.

Got the new firmware, new VU meter is nice, and hopefully it fixes the fact that before it forgets the wifi setting soon as I turn it off, which was very annoying.

edit - I think it remembers wifi settings now!

New firmware for the DX5 II just dropped. v1.49

6. What's updated

Fixed: The main interface no longer displays "HP DC abnormal" after detecting abnormal headphone amp DC.

Fixed: Audio distortion when switching sampling rates via USB DoP input.

Fixed: Display lag when rapidly adjusting volume in FFT and VU meter interfaces.

Optimized: The 5 system preset PEQs can now be edited (both parameters and names) or deleted directly via the Tune menu.

Optimized: EQ entries in the menu are now displayed as "number + name" instead of just a number.

Added: Option to retain PEQ configurations when performing a factory reset.

Added: In the FFT interface, when adjusting volume, switching inputs, or switching outputs, a large-font overlay appears for 3 seconds before returning to the normal interface.

Fixed: Several other known issues.

p.s. I can't test the PEQ since the app they released is Windows only. But users on ASR says PEQ seems to be working correctly now but there are still lots of little bugs it seems, it will take a couple of updates yet I think. Saying that, even the X9 for me has/had bugs, like the new VU settings isn't in showing in the phone app, it's still showing 8 when there are now 10.

Does it have a built in EQ?

Ive got a Fiio K15 on order using the canjam discount code, hoping to get it at the weekend since it launches friday. Ive just been reading the k17 manual out of interest as the k15 one hasn't released yet. I thought having 5 gain modes seemed excessive, turns out its only 2 hardware gain modes that then have software attenuation applied to them. How utterly pointless. Like spinal tap with dials that go to 11.

Gain Hardware gain Software gain Whole gain
LOW L=0dB -12dB -12dB
Medium L=0dB -6dB -6dB
High L=0dB -3dB -3dB
Super High H=+12dB -3dB +9dB
Ultra High H=+12dB 0dB +12dB

Im trying to get answers on if the eq profiles can be saved per output method on it, if they cant that probably kills that functionality for me there and then as it will be faster to swap profiles in Musicbee.

It is indeed wack, this also concerns me.
Analog Output Selector Switch: Switch output PO+PRE, PO, PRE and LO

PO+PRE: Simultaneous headphone and line output, with volume and gain
adjustments affecting both.
PO: Only headphone outputs are active (6.35mm, 4.4mm, XLR4).
PRE: Only line outputs are active (RCA, XLR3), with adjustable volume (unaffected
by gain).
LO: Fixed maximum volume line output (volume and gain controls disabled). Ensure
connected devices are set to appropriate levels to avoid loud noises.

"Simultaneous headphone and line output, with volume and gain
adjustments affecting both."

So like are the line out and headphone output physically connected and the line out is after the headphone amp circuit or what? Because if that's the case that seems wrong.

The Topping DX5 II has what I feel is illogical pre/line out behaviour when enabled, you can't selectively set specific outputs to pre or DAC mode, enabling it forces all outputs to line out (DAC mode), I realised this by accident and nearly blew my speakers once.

Silliness always finds its way into released products I guess.

Have to be honest I've not given pre/lo behaviour a thought, but prefer the way the Fiio K7 (or K11) does it vs the old K5 Pro. Namely you have a 3-way switch for LO, Pre & PO. That for me works brilliantly where I can select Pre to adjust volume on the speakers, or select headphone out. I then don't have to muck around switching the speakers off like I did on the K5.

What @Angst listed seems like an evolution of this with one more option, but maybe I'm missing something.
