Very high brightness monitor - which one?

My god that looks great!! that colour space and brightness is amazing

Just one thing you might not know but most MiniLEDs use PWM. The M27T6 that I linked to earlier doesn't, it uses DC, but the Xiaomi G Pro 27i does.

The Xiaomi G Pro 27i has higher frequency PWM than the Philips Evnia. Over 4000Hz for the Xiaomi, but the Evnia is clearly visible at 4000hz. This might not bother your friend, but it's something to be aware of. If you are susceptible to PWM flickering, it's a killer on the eyes. You might not even notice the flicker but you do notice the eye strain.

You keep mentioning colour accuracy. Is that the most important thing? If it's needed for work, I wouldn't be getting a miniled monitor.

Thanks for the points - it's for me the monitor but I will keep an eye out for the flickering if any ! hopefully won't see any.

Yes colour accuracy is helpful - but its for occasional work in my van - so not mission critical in there, just handy to have it fairly accurate - mostly so I can review and cull photos and video than huge projects............the main thing I want in there is good enough but bright enough so I can see the bloomin thing - I can only manage that with the monitor I have now if I shut all the doors and close all the curtains until im in a dark metal box! (which goes against the idea of having nice view while you're working) - the current monitor I have is a Dell UP2716D - which on the box says 300 nits brightness but real world comes in at around 180-190 - which is awful, I can't see a thing in shaded daylight.

The monitors position in the van is facing AWAY from the day light inside the van - so its not got any direct light on it.

I can't see any monitor I get being mini-Led being horrendous for colours as ill calibrate it of course also at the desired brightness level I want to work in.

One more thing to look out for when you get it. The monitor makes a whining noise, like coil whine. If you notice it, it will drive you nuts. Hopefully you will not hear it at all, most people don't.

Good luck with it :)

This is the monitor I use if it helps - https://www.expertreviews.co.uk/technology/monitors/philips-evnia-32-32m2n6800-review

"The Evnia 32M2N6800 has one of the best IPS panels on the market and it can reproduce 177% of sRGB, 125% of DCI-P3 and 122% of AdobeRGB. Colour is presented with a high degree of accuracy, too.

Compared with the ideal profile, the sRGB, DCI-P3 and AdobeRGB presets in the Native picture mode returned Delta E variances of 1.03, 1.09 and 1.17 respectively. As a rule of thumb, variances of 1 or less are going to be indistinguishable to even the most skilled of colourists. For what is first and foremost a gaming monitor the new Evnia is bang on the money.

Thanks to the Mini LED backlight, brightness reaches levels beyond the most fevered imaginings of any OLED display, with peak full-screen brightness of 884cd/m² in SDR mode and 1,443cd/m² in HDR mode, the latter more than sufficient to earn the screen its DisplayHDR 1000 certification.

A case could easily be made for the Evnia’s screen being too bright. Flicking the display to a full-screen white image at maximum brightness in HDR mode was an almost painful experience that caused me to look quickly away and even with the brightness turned down as low as it would go, my colorimeter still read 110cd/m².

In SDR mode, with the local dimming turned off, the contrast ratio came in at 1,080:1 which is the middle of the road for an IPS panel and far less than you would get from a VA let alone an OLED screen. However, in HDR mode or SDR mode with local dimming set to Strong, the contrast ratio increased to an OLED-matching inifinity:1 thanks to a perfect absence of backlight show-through in black areas."

It's available for £548 at the moment!
On Amazon its £499...been considering upgrading my monitor as its only 60hz...might go for this

@Firegod Ordered it. Was the last one in stock at Amazon for £499 so I went for it. Arrives on Monday.

This is the 4th monitor I've tried in my search for a replacement this year
Current one is ASUS TUF Gaming VG289Q 4K 60HZ

1 - Xiaomi Mini LED Gaming Monitor G Pro 27i 1440p 180hz (Didn't like how blurry text is at 1440p and was hard to go lower res after 4K)
2 - Gigabyte M32UC (Just thought it looked worse than my current monitor and wasn't impressed at all, looked washed out)
3 - Gigabyte F32U2P (I have to play in a bright environment with the sun sometimes coming through and I just couldn't deal with it)
4 - Now this one...4th time lucky

I don't even mind my current monitor that much but it's annoying having a 5080 and being stuck at 60FPS when you know it can do more.

Wow ok. Amazing. Well I hope you like it. I feel nervous now haha. I've enjoyed mine. Not sure if you have a usb a to b cable so that you can update the firmware. Fingers crossed. :)

So I got the monitor today and tried it out with Cyberpunk and I'm really happy with it. Finally found something I'm happy with after 4 attempts.

Like how bright it is and the colours looks amazing when playing Cyberpunk. Also going from 60fps to 140fps is so much smoother and more enjoyable to play.

I haven't tried out the HDR yet as I think I messed up the calibration as it looked wrong. Will look into that when I get some more time.

For £499 it feels like a great purchase

That's great to hear. For HDR, I recently turned mine on. I enabled it in windows, then set the screen to HDR Game mode with Medium on the Local Dimming. Then I ran through the Windows HDR calibration app, and created a profile. :) Windows looks fine and I tried some 4k HDR YouTube videos. Haven't tried any games lol. But SDR is great too. I run SDR in Smart Uniform mode. Hope that helps. Take your time to get used to it. :)
