2025/26 Preseason Thread

hmmm...yea it's only preseason but that did look like a decent, proper performance. thus far, at least, Amorim seems to be justifying his decisions with the required uptick in performances

Its preseason so not much to really be taken from it, especially as you could see that there was more space and time than you would get in a PL game and thats where the quality of players and systems really shows. Good signs though. Midfield still looks like a big issue though. We still don't have a solid midfield pairing.

Dorgu was lively in the last match too, forgot about him to be honest, hopefully he settles in this season. I seem to recall he has energy but not always the end product, maybe this will be ok with new additions etc, less reliant on his end product.

Yeah, hes looking good. Its just a case of seeing what happens in the heat of the PL. I'm still traumatised from that pre-season under LvG. We looked like prime Barca. The league was ours for the taking!

We did not take it

Yep. Only saw the highlights but the poorest moments seemed to come from Casemiro losing the ball when under pressure and him and Bruno not really showing any sort of partnership. Apart from that there were some more good signs. For all Dorgu looks better, I didn't really detect much of an impact from Dalot.

Arsenal go 1 down after MLS gets his ankle clipped and loses the ball leaving Raya in no mans land. Considering the constant free kicks this ref has given I'm amazed that wasn't given too. Been a pretty rubbish game so far, very low on quality especially from Martinelli and Havertz.

Raya has been awful, no effort whatsoever and caught in no man's land through his own bad pass and laziness getting back. Ref has stopped absolutely every little bit of contact making for a game of pure boredom. Only difference between teams is Tottenham are putting in some effort for their new manager and arsenal are playing at a trot.

If second half like the first they may as well not have bothered turning up.

Two teams in completely different places. Arsenal are a settled team that need to integrate a few new players during pre-season but fundamentally won't get that much from it especially if those guys aren't playing. Tottenham had a shocking season and have a new manager to impress.

If you are going to play your arch rivals you need to bother to turn up, friendly or no friendly, if you are nt going to bother, take a different game. That was a shocking display, friendly or not.

Spurs should have won that game by about 5 goals from what I saw. I especially enjoyed them using Arsenals ****** corner routine against them.

More concerning than that pathetic first half performance was the lack of shots from possession again second half, yes it's only a friendly and it was not the full team but it was exactly how they were end of last season. Barely a shot on target. Very lame.
