They are looking at setting energy prices according to income. Now are they going to ask you for your wages slip and then price you higher would this be part of surge pricing.

It feels the UK wants to penalize those that want to work hard and Increase their earnings.

Lucky I am leaving my embassy interview I been told is just a formality. , I just can't keep up with all these incentives to steal my money.

Calm down, they're just opening the discussion around it - this is just one suggestion.

Uncoupling electricity prices from the gas market would be a good start.
I don't like when they start to discuss things like this. It means life will become more expensive.
I was reading about Lambeth council selling off assets, income producing assets with almost low maintenance costs which is even worse.

You will not be missed. Go find somewhere else to sponge off.

Lol sponge, I pay sufficient taxes, getting nothing in return and now they want to further strip my income.
Yer, I will leave, and I think many others will follow. the weight of those will fall on fewer people.
We both pay a lot of tax, eye watering amounts,
I am not happy to work and retain less every year.
Then having to pay for private insurance etc. I'll be happy to pay for private insurance if I retain my tax.
Even if I went part-time I would still pay a lot of tax.

There is now zero incentive for me to work in this country.. Emasculation of democracy, economy and society, just crazy if people don't see this.

so - you can get cheaper broadband services if you are poorer, the controversial warm home discount(ageist)
government is subsidising electricity for some industries , so this ongoing energy discussion is nothing new ..

now if greg jackson started offering that as a philanthropic exercise that would be a coupe.

Grass isn't greener buddy.

I've lived and worked in tax havens. I've lived and worked in European Social Democracies. I've lived and worked in the UK.

The UK is the worst of both. Taxes are fairly low. Public services are ****. I much preferred living in Germany where taxes were much higher but the place isn't crumbling to bits.

The problem with the people in the UK is that they want lots of free stuff, but they aren't prepared to pay tax to get it.

It's like a recent poll for the armed forces. I seem to remember it was 55% wanted spending to increase on the military and if it did, 56% didn't want taxes to rise to pay for it.

I mean if you are that set against paying tax, move to a country where there is no free stuff. I doubt you will be any better off.

I agree. The constant penalising of high earners is getting old. They need to find a way to tax the people that use loopholes and hide their wealth - tax those that are wealthy, not those that are high earners. The sooner that everyone gets it through their heads that a 100k salary doesn't mean you are wealthy, the better.

TLDR; high earner != wealthy

I agreed with what you say, the UK it is falling apart in all areas. Everything has been mismanaged yet they continue to want more money they continue to say it will improve but there continues to be cuts after cuts, and nothing changes. it gets, worse, taxes aren't low in this country, yes other countries are higher but the services are managed well.

I have a really big issue with council tax, someone who owns a property of 600k pays the same amount as someone with a 10 milion pound property.

There is no incentive to work, specially for those earning 30K with no ownership of property. The problem with the leasehold system and property management companies, it seems there are endless areas money being stolen from people.

They wonder why people cant save and wonder why 40% of the population have no private pensions.

The country continues to be asset striped.and the average worker keeps paying more and more.

The country is broken, and it will not be fixed for generations. I realised life is too short and decided I am not willing to stick around. I'll emigrate to a county were I will have 100% ownership of a property and the land underneath.
Yes, other countries have problems but not like this country.

They want to steal private pensions and restrict state pensions in the future.

After my appointment and the formalities, I am going to our new country to buy a property, we sold ours last year. Once we purchased them, we are off.
I have a few friends in Spain, one couple moved 9 years ago the other 4 years ago, They are really happy, they and look really relaxed and healthy.

The economy is one of the fastest growing EU economies and I'll like to be part of that. I believe this is partly due to lots of Northern Europeans settling. There are a high number of companies moving to Spain, if you have the skills, you have a job.

Anyway good night, need to be up at 4 am again.

The problem isn't people wanting it, everyone wants free stuff. The problem is we give it, over and over again to ridiculous amounts.

Stop giving, and people will stop demanding.
