My idle temps are 46 - 50C at the moment which I believe are normal. I was playing Clair Obscura yesterday and highest temp on hwinfo was 97C. Just ran cinebench 24 and highest temp was 87C with average 78C. Are these temps about right?

I'm using an Arctic Cooler Freezer II 280 but was looking on their website and found that some of these sold between 2021 - 2022 had potentially faulty gaskets. I put my details in and mine is in the batch of faulty ones so they're going to send me a replacent gasket kit, been using it for 4 years and never heard about this. Will update once I've done the repair and see if temps go down.

I think those temps seem fine and consistent with what i'm getting after re-installing the cooler. Cinebench at 78c average seems fine from what i've read. I had my cooler improperly installed and cinebench made it spike to 95 the instant i ran it.

I was getting high idle temps around 65 degrees and it was spiking to 80+ and even 95+ during gaming / workloads. I got some new paste (MX4) and reinstalled the cooler (H100i LCD 240mm). It turned out I hadn't tightened one of the brackets fully and this was causing inconsistent contact between the cooler and cpu. Since re-installing it properly im idling around 50-55 (icue software seems to add a few degrees) and in game it runs around 70ish with spikes to 80ish occasionally.

Have you done anything in the bios at all?

ill run cinebench 24 in a bit and report back with the temps as the last time I ran this I never bothered checking.

Edit, just ran mine and the max was 95.1C and the min was 52.4C, I do have other things running in the back ground which may have pushed up the temps more

Maybe i''l re run it again when I have nothing else going on in the background

Just PBO on auto and Expo on I think. I have been reading about undervolting that drops temps with not much change to performance so may try that.

I did a +200 on the core and -25 following some random guide on YT lol

What are you looking at in HWInfo when running Cinebench 24?

Just the CPU Die (average) reading, probably wrong one to check!
What section is that under?

I am currently looking at AMD Ryen 7 9800X3D > Temperatures

Under here I have the following

Package
CCD #0
Cores (Max)
L3 Cache
CPU IOD Hotspot
CPU_VDDCR_VVD VRAM
CPU_VDDCR_SOC VRAM
CPU VDD_MSC VRM

I had a temp of 95.1C for Max and 51.9C min But I did have a few other bits running in the background when I ran mine. This was looking at the "Package" Row in the above section.

I also, could be looking in the wrong location for the correct temp as I never normally bother monitoring it lol

I just load the sensors part and it's under there.

Now Mr Menieres and Mr Migraine have tootled off for a bit I finally got round to removing the cooler. When I built it I installed a Thermalright AM5 secure frame that I'd had for a while and thought was snazzy. I've removed this and put original back on, repasted and done Cinebench 24 again.

Temps after this test were:

High - 74C
Average - 65C

Cooler than before but gonna play some games now and see what happens. Once all this is sorted I'll look at seting up PBO and see if that changes anything.

For you folks concerned about temps, there some cookie cutter settings you can apply in bios for curve optimiser that work for basically all CPUs which will substantially reduce temps. Folks more familiar with AMD than myself can fill in the details but I have like -30 set and it's very stable. I have a 360 AIO and temps don't really go above 60c in games.

Yep, I did this and it knocked off 5+c and reduced power usage, with 0 performance impact.

Which 360 AIO do you have? Looking to change my current 280 one.

I originally had a -30 which was fine for months then Helldivers 2 got an update and then it suddenly started locking the system up.

Forgot I had even set this up, changed to -25 and now been fine for 4 months or so
