John Lewis warranty if not fixable and under a year old?

That's mad. I must say, my C3 OLED has been fine (touch wood) for 2 years and 3 months now.
I must have been some serial television murderer in a past life or something? Or maybe RS/JL buy all of their non OLED's from a warehouse that was built on a graveyard where they didn't move the bodies - ala Poltergiest's plot with the house hence the picture in this comment and my previous reply ;)

Ha, but that's because it's an OLED :) Bring it round and play Russian Roulette with your warranty ;)

This is me on the right when I see a dead pixel, and the thing that caused it on the left :P

I bought a TV, that was the last one of it's kind in stock, it was nearly 2 grand. In under 2 weeks, that TV developed multiple dead pixels and the software started playing up - a firmware update did not fix it, but ironically locked me out of a previous menu entirely and was removed.
They had no more in stock, so I had to choose an alternative, which developed dead pixels again, so that went back - it was slightly cheaper but a brand I have had bad experiences with before, so I decided against a replacement.
Then I chose a third TV, this also failed... At this point, I'd already spent way more than I'd intended originally, and nothing in any of the 3 TV's price ranges, suited my requirements - they were all 120Hz high feature set 'gaming' TV's, with the ALLM, VRR, Freesync Premium Pro, and a sub built in, and reasonable HDR.

At this point, I now had received my full money back, because this was 3 in a row 1 after the other in quick succession; because I wanted a proper length warranty, the only other company I was whiling to try and trust, was John Lewis; because I've heard nothing but good things about their customer service, thus I bought the now 4th TV from them, going for an LG again despite having had 3 fail before, as people always rave that they are one of the best, and this seemed good bang per buck, it then developed dead pixels when I posted this thread, having had the TV since October last year.

So I have tried to not be biased and 'give the brand the benefit of the doubt' but regardless of having multiple brands TV's, multiple times, they still fail; after speaking to the engineer, that I now know on a first name basis (having collected 4 of them now), I strongly believe what he said about them all failing, and continuing to, year after year.
Unless I buy a very expensive 65" OLED, I doubt I will have a modern 4K TV last as long as those bombproof 1080P TV's did in the past that I have had many of, and other people have had the same experience with those 1080P LCD TV's, so it's not a placebo. I don't think these are built to last more than a year or 2, hence they come with 1 year warranty and RS/JL extend it.
Pretty mad and tbh just unlucky there, never known anyone to have such bad luck especially with LG but fair. Samsung I've had issues with before and really don't like their colour anyways.

But yeah OLED 65" options been plenty for a number of years at less than £2k if you buy previous years models.

Both my TVs currently are 55" and 60" LCD Panasonic's at min and been solid for the mid range prices they were. Keep putting myself off spending £3k on the latest and greatest when there some very clear draw backs from different brands. The LG and the Sony need to make a baby currently to give best of what both do.

But yeah not sure why swapping shops was a thing still from this post. Not like they made the TVs is all.

Yeah, you honestly it's crazy. 3 LG's, 2 HiSense so far!
As I say, I was whiling to give the brands the benefit of the doubt, and try replacements and different models. Now I'm stuck with the 3rd LG, repaired :(

Really? Whenever I looked, it was 55" or smaller from RS/JL? Just my luck I suppose :(

I had a first generation 37" 1080i TV, for something crazy like 15 years in one room, I sold that to a mate for cheap, it's probably still going now. Then I had a secondhand 1080P 37" in another room for at least 4-6 years, then found the same TV in 47" form, again secondhand, so bought that, sold the 37" version cheap, then kept the 47" until I could afford my first 65" 4K TV, which to it's credit, lasted 4.5 years. My mates Mum was still using that 47" till around a year ago, when it finally died, it was a 2013 model IIRC when I looked at the sticker on the back.

I swear those LCD's were built like tanks!

The shopping of shops, was purely because, I wanted specific features in X price range, and most of the TV's they have are the same TV rebranded, like the HiSense is the same panel inside as a TCL, but the TCL has a bit better brightness, but when tested, there's not much in it, so having had 2 HiSense fail, the latter being very expensive, I didn't want another, having had 3 LG's I didn't have any other models to choose from, the rest was Samsung, which all the reviews said were overpriced and failed after X time - many people, that or they were way under spec for what I required, and the same went for the other brands, Sony for example, wanted a lot more, for even less features, and then I ended up being left with either 1-2 year warranty models (no chance!) or having a 3rd of the same failing LG/HiSense.
At this point, the only TV's that were suitable, were now even more money, and I'd already gone up and up and up each time in price, so enough was enough!

Thus after all the hassle and finally managing to get my full money back and not a credit note, that forced me to stay with RS, I bought a completely different model LG, that RS did not have - I hope that makes sense now. TLDR, I gave RS multiple chances, be it replacements, different brand/models, and they all failed, to the point that I couldn't find a suitable alternative in my price range, despite continuously going up in price each time hoping for better luck!

If you don't insist on buying the very latest generation, they're often actually pretty good value really, they drop away from the RRP pretty hard once the new generations arrive each year.

You're probably at the wrong time of year now to pick up the 4 series screens from LG at a decent price, they're probably pretty much gone now but when the 6 series screens launch, the 5 series will tank hard - you'll probably see the C5 65" around £1500 or maybe even less.

Edit - Amazon price tracker is showing the 65" C4 has been at £1299 (even £1149 sometimes) since March but has gone up in the last few weeks as stock has come to an end.

Yeah, that was my issue to be honest dude, at the time they were just pushing new models, and at inflated pricing. I do typically buy the previous year/gen to grab a bargain.

Let's be honest though, with my luck with TV's, and going buy what the repair guy said the 4 times I've seen him  I'll be seeing him for another 4 years replacing this screen each year, before I can buy another TV out of warranty, as LG are insisting that they'd rather cover the cost and labour of replacing a screen, instead of giving me my money back, apparently.
