Fuji X Series

X100VI (Black only) currently available on Amazon for £1373.02.
I’d purchase myself but it’s been added to the ever growing list of items that Amazon no longer ship to NI

**EDIT** Please disregard. There's something fishy going on at Amazon. It appears as though the price is only visible to NI customers yet Amazon won't ship to NI so it's of use to no one - clearly a ploy to pull people in.
Ship it to me and I'll forward it to you....eventually.

To be fair I don't really want it  - although it didn't stop me picking a fight with Amazon CS out of principle.
I am (im)patiently waiting for the X-E5...
I'm waiting on the X-Pro 4 but might settle for a GFX 50R / SII if my marriage can take it.

There’s x100vi in stock at LCE online, the stock is in my local one. I’ve seen it in the window for the past 10 days.

I want a newer x-pro too but new Fuji or any camera tbh are getting silly expensive, like 30% more than I expect. I might just have to settle for a xpro 2 or 3.

I hear you.

Although, I think I've said this before, some of my favourite photos are from disposable cameras and early digital P&S. When it comes to X Pro I think the 2 is the sweet spot.

Having just sold off some non-photography bits and pieces, I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket. I've been flirting with the idea of a GFX 50R or SII for a long time now, primarily because I love shooting my film medium format cameras but would really like similar results in digital. I just can't get over the fact that it'll take at least £3k to get a body and single lens, and add a bit more on for adapters for some of my MF lenses. Maybe I should just stick with the X system, maybe get an X-T5, and get a couple more lenses to complete my collection whilst getting my medium format kicks from film?

EDIT: Scrap that, just ordered a new X-T5 from Very using their 20% off offer, making it cheaper than a second hand one. Assuming the cashback clears too, it’ll be a couple of hundred under a used model!

I did get a chance to read your original post this morning and had been pondering for most of the day about what to write - I needn't have worried! :p

There's no getting around the fact that the image quality from the GFX sensors is spectacular. It's not just in terms of resolution and pure sharpness but also dynamic range, tonality and the super smooth fall off. The quality of transition from focus to out of focus areas is superb even at slower apertures like f5.6.

All that said, I still love my X-T5 and if I had to plump for one system it would be my x-mount gear without a doubt. Furthermore, the price for entry to the GFX system (even for used) is getting a little silly now. A quick browse on MPB and WEX seem to suggest that a 50s II will cost around £2k and a 100s £3k. I couldn't even find a 50r for sale and I'm guessing those will get even rarer now with the hype surrounding the 100RF.

My first GFX purchase was the 50s II and 35-70 kit in May of last year and that whole package cost £2100 from WEX (it was an open box return). That is now an easy £2600 IF you can find both camera and lens in a good enough deal.
I actually only had the 50s II for a month or two when I spied a 100s on MPB for £1600 which just seemed too good a deal to pass up at the time. Admittedly it was a well used unit but as with most purchases from them it was in fine condition. Fast forward a year and you'd be lucky to find that same camera for under twice the price.

Personally, I don't think the costs of GFX are worth it right now. I can only assume I lucked out while the GFX was at rock bottom because it has only increased ever since. I said not long ago that I could sell all my GFX gear now and make a tidy profit despite over a years' use.
Long term it's difficult to say, but right now I don't envisage me staying with GFX beyond the life of the [my] 100s. The X-mount system is still my preferred choice and the options for it are improving all the time. The new Sigma is a case in point - I actually sold my GF 45-100mm in anticipation of that Sigma lens as they would both effectively serve the same purpose (for me) and the Sigma is a heck of a lot smaller and lighter.

Thank you for taking the time to consider and reply!

It took a while but I realised I was getting sucked into a spiral of YouTube “reviews”. I pinched myself this morning and remembered that I use my current X-S10 a whole lot more than my medium format gear because it is easy to carry around and doesn’t attract too much attention. I also couldn’t justify paying the current prices, which as you point out are becoming silly. For a third of the buy in price of a GFX and single lens, the X-T5 should address my gripes with the X-S10 (focus mode switch, ISO dial, 7x C settings) and leave enough to add a couple of lenses to my current lineup… and I can buy a **** load of 120 film to tickle the MF urges.

Picked up a new bag for the impending arrival of my X-E5 kit - SmallRig 3704.
I have photographed it along with my X-T5 for scale but it will comfortably take both the X-E5 and 23mm lens.
It may also be of interest to any X100 users.

I also couldn't go without uploading a photo of Amazon's comically large packaging...

Interesting… I just bought an Aer sling to carry my X100 in, but for chucking in a rucksack this might do a better job.

I got a Tilda grip/cage thing. Always wanted a wooden grip and this seems like the best one. Some hit and miss accessories though. I didn't get the pack with the top plate as I want to use the hotshoe for the X100VI.

Beautiful packaging, not using the leather strap buttons it comes with as it has a metal screw/button on it. Also not using their Thumb grip either as the Smallrig one offer better clearance to the dial and tighter fit.

I also finally got a YC Onion Square hood, after researching lots, this one is metal, with cover AND it lines up without any additional tool/screw into the side.

Acra Swiss plate at the bottom, access to the battery but the access to the wront dial is slightly recessed, so will see how I get on with it or I will go back to the Smallrig leather case.

Afternoon all. Does anyone own, or has owned an X-T1 and the official battery grip? I bought a battery grip off of CEX the other day after I spotted it for £20. When I got it home I popped a battery in the grip and attached it to the X-T1 but whilst the extra battery is registering as I can now see two batteries on the display none of the buttons or dials on the grip work, so for example if you rotate the camera to portrait mode and use the additional shutter button on the grip you should be able to focus and shoot but it does nothing, same with the A-EL button, dials etc.

I'm guessing it's faulty but before I take it back I thought I would ask just in case anyone is aware of any setting I need to switch or something really obvious that I am doing wrong. Pretty sure I am not but thought it worth asking.

Thanks

Did you remove the little rubber cover just below the screen at the bottom?

Bloomberg reported yesterday:

Fujifilm Holdings Corp. raised US prices for the majority of its digital cameras and lenses on Friday, in some cases by hundreds of dollars, as President Donald Trump’s tariffs continue to reverberate across the consumer tech industry.

Many of the company’s camera bodies, which are popular with creators and professionals on account of their film simulations and unique color rendering, are now $200 more expensive than they were on Thursday evening. For instance, Fujifilm’s premier consumer camera, the X-T5, sold for $1,699 earlier this week but now costs $1,899, a 12% bump.

Now I feel like my X-E5 on order is a bargain at the obscene price of £1500 or whatever it is :D

Thanks for this, I’ll grab one too.

Does anyone know if it comes with these wrist straps that seem popular with Youtubers. The ones where it can literally just hang from you wrist?
