Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

The Geordie press are blowing this situation with Isak right up. Absolutely Newcastle should hold out for top dollar as they prob need to get two number 9's if Isak goes. Looks a little that Isak has been ill advised IF Liverpool stand firm and don't return with a second bid. Amateur hour up in the North East at the moment

Unless we genuinely won't go anywhere near £130-140m (and I always said we wouldn't spend big on him so who knows) then this is either just a big pr exercise, allowing Newcastle to get their ducks in a row and not have their pants pulled down when signing replacements or we're happy to play the slow game in the hope Newcastle will be more willing sellers the longer Isak plays up rather than bid against ourselves.

I find it hard to believe that we've convinced the player to the extent that he's going on strike just to submit a single bid and then walk away.

I think he will end up at Liverpool before the window closes. Given Liverpool have signed Ekitike already and a bid for Isak was put in within the last 24 / 48 hours, agree it does seem strange if its an all or nothing single bid. The reason I reference Ekitike is that I don't buy the nonsense from the Newcastle Daily Mail correspondent that Liverpool have 'bottled it'. They know how to operate in the market, when to sit tight or just sit back. There are quite a few club's who may not have the $$$$ of Newcastle but they certainly have the historical pull.

Yea, I think he was just playing to his audience. It would be the same if rolls were reversed too, it's just what patch journalists do and why I replied to Woppy that if the previous stories were being leaked by Liverpool then they wouldn't be leaking them to Romano etc but to journo's close to the club.

this has been the biggest misconception of the past few years. we don’t have money to spend (by virtue of turnover) - it’s one of the main reasons we’ve been beaten to players. We simply cannot afford wages over 200k, so the big boys get an easy pass over us by offering good wages.

Yes others teams do have a pull, but they also have the cash to outbid us if we’ve offered a good package to a player.

Can’t see anything other than a larger bid coming back. No other scenario makes any sense to any of the three parties.

Meh don't see it

Isak not worth 120 let alone 150 imo

Are there really no alternatives at that level of outllay?

Just seems like a huge amount for a half decent striker...

I don’t see us just doing one bid and bye then myself, maybe max of three before we would perhaps walk away.

I’d still rather we get a centre back in first as we’re very light there. I’m more worried we’re going into season with that remaining same.

Yeh I’d say Sesko to Newcastle had to happen for Isak to goto Liverpool..:

And no doubt some shady back hand conversations will be happening to ensure that happens.

Be nice if he does pick us ahead of Man Utd though, we could do with the confidence boost after becoming the banter club of the transfer window

Nunez to Saudi links back, I don’t think he is at stage of career should be moving for money myself.

I still think he could do a job for many clubs in Europe.

100m for Nunez. You get 50m and you add 50m to the Isak bid making it 160m.

Newcastle get Wissa and Sesko and 160m to splash on a CB and midfielder and some project players.

jobs a good one.
