The Naked Gun (2025)

I'm off to watch this later today. Glad the reviews are good, although I'd see it regardless. "Let's do some improvisational comedy, now.."

Same, originally i was going to miss this one out but since people have said good things plus the decent reviews, will give it a chance. :)

Yeah critics are normally ‘cool’ / ‘non-affectionate’ towards comedies as I think it makes them vulnerable to say they found something funny.

You know, I think I’m up for giving this a whirl - I fancy something silly :)

To me its on par with the originals...

Airplane
Top secret
Hot shots
Obviously it's namesake.

Liam and Pamela..... Who would have thunk it.

It wasn't a 9.9, it was more a 7 but still a good film. Decent enough to go and chill and not have to concentrate too deeply. Any 90 minute runtime is going to be short on plot, and this did feel like it was rushed. Having grown up in the era of police squad, naked gun and airplane, it didn't disappoint in that regard. Expect a lot of people who game in their pants whilst eating pizza and have zero social skills to be laughing at literally everything, if you go to the cinema, a) whether it was funny or not, and b) if they got it, or not.

Still, nothing says racial banter better than a bit of Frank Drebin

Just got home from seeing it. My first cinema trip since 2019. I'm not sure what I'd rate it, I don't think there was enough "Police Squad" humour. Those films are so busy, if it's not dialogue there is something visual going on. Watching it again at home outside the noise of the cinema I'd appreciate it even more.

Watched it last night, gave it a 2/10 (5 being average). People in the cinema seemed to enjoy it but I found it dull and only got 3 smirks. I think this would have translated better as a live theatre show to be honest. Old humour recycled with in-jokes thrown in.

I was kinda the same. Tbf it's not the type of movie I would typically see. So it would be unfair to me to rate it. It ok and I guess if you liked this type of movie I can see the appeal. I would give it higher then 2 though.

I feel like we watched different films :p

Probably over 100 stupid dialog gags and 50 prop/set gags.
A few surreal sequences that still worked but yeah not really fitting the humour mould.
I'm just guessing, it's probably more, a lot more thinking about it, but I thought it was great obviously:p

I grew up in the 80s with the classics in my dad's VCR collection, I think my sister and me broke top secret we watched it so many times.

I think it's glorious someone had the balls/finances to remake/make a film like this. I hope it ends up with a decent profit to boot.

You can deffo feel a Seth McFarlane influence on parts , again he's an extremely diversive character.
