*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

It sure feels like Elliot has it roots in Mana/Evermore, but I still get more a of a Zelda vibe from it overall - the combat/puzzle shrines for 'hearts', the dungeons with environmental based (simple) puzzles, the occasional jumping between platforms etc.

The progression maybe won't be tied to key items like Zelda is, but the fairy skills might take it a bit in that direction. I hope it progresses slightly more towards puzzles in the final game.

If the dungeons and stuff can be kept interesting througout, I think it'll be really good.

Im loving DK bonanza
What does everyone else think of it?
I’m really enjoying it. I wasn’t convinced I would based on the trailers, but it’s way more fun that I expected.

I’m working through it methodically trying to collect all the bananas as I go - but I think some may be easier if you played the entire game and then went back for them.

I’ve only been getting about an hour a day at it, and probably spend 30mins of that unnecessarily destroying stuff for fun.
I’ll get there eventually!

Only on layer 500 but I am struggling a bit with it. It's good but not great imo. The main mechanic seems totally pointless.
DK himself is full of charm but I was hoping for a lot more from the game.

SF6 is the only game that I am really enjoying on the switch 2. MKW is a complete dud and I love MK.
Nintendo seem to have lost their mojo.

It’s a 7/10 for me. The last third is very good. Lucky for me I never owned a Switch so I’m now playing TOTK HD and Mario Odyssey HD.

Echoes my thoughts, too. DKB is fine, having some fun but it hasn't gripped me. MKW, as you say, is a bit of a dud. I much prefer MK8 ; the open world aspect of MKW is completely lifeless. So far, for me, the Switch 2 generation has yet to "kick" off ... maybe Metroid Prime 4 will be the launch point ?

I think calling MKW "dud" is a bit of stretch personally; its not quite gripped me as much as MK8 Deluxe but on the other hand that was a re-release of another game and packaged up with all the extra courses, updates, etc.
I do agree the open world stuff feels a bit empty; I'm sure there's going to be updates, etc though, look at how much support MK8 got on Switch 1

Have to agree though, maybe CyberPunk aside I don't think we've really seen a lot of true Switch 2 stuff yet

Yeah MKW definitely has more content than MK8 first did at launch. There's things I'd like to see improved but I do prefer MKW, and think it has a better foundation than MK8 does.
For me, even if they do add a bunch of stuff to free roam I probably still wouldn't really engage with it much - I just want to hop on and play races with people, that's what MK is all about for me.

On that note, I had a great time with the Drag x Drive beta/global jam, controls are tight and it really feels like you're playing a sport.

Prime 4 is a Switch 1 game with some upgrades for Switch 2 I think?, I like how it looks (environmental art style is cool) but I wouldn't expect anything too special in terms of visuals there.

MKW and DKB are games that would struggle to run on Switch 1 without some significant compromises I think - MKW for it's 24 players, chaos, and streaming of the world, DKB for it's voxel based destruction, particles and effects. I think they both show off Switch 2 more than Prime 4 will - the 4k/120fps options on Switch 2 will be a nice bonus, but the reason that's possible is becuase it's graphically built to run on Switch 1.

On the Switch 2, MP4 is going to have 60fps and 120fps modes. For an action / shooter game that's quite significant and will be a big step up performance wise from the Switch 1 version.

I think Switch 1 will have 60fps too, but just at 1080p(or less) instead of 4k.

The 120fps @ 1080p option is probably what I'll go for. For me it's just a nice to have since Metroid isn't too fast paced, I may end up playing the 60fps @ 4k option if it feels more immersive.

I've been playing DK Bonanza with my kids in 'game share' mode - where 1 is playing as DK on the Switch 2, and one is Pauline on the OG Switch. Although the OG Switch is only controlling Pauline, the screen still displays as the same as what the DK person sees. I was surprised at how well the OG Switch handles it.
I've read that it was originally developed as a Switch game, but was held back for Switch 2.

I think what you're seeing on the Switch 1 is just a video stream from the Switch 2, so Switch 1 isn't actally running the game in this case.

Yeah they likely started aiming for Switch 1, but it seems like the ambition of the game led to it being Switch 2 only.

I reinstalled AC:NH and had to stop playing, I think it's running at 30fps still and the motion just felt and looked terrible.
I appreciate it's not like an action game or anything, but it is so noticeable that it just felt uncomfortable to play

Also got jsaux case with grips and they are great, big improvement to gaming. I don't use part of the case that goes on the back of the unit as it's quite tight fit when it goes into dock. Not comfortable enough with it. But for travel will definitely use it while grips can be on all the time.
