Its not the spring cartridges, its just some of the door handles over time have gotten more and more of a loose/dead spot. Took one off and had a look, even in my hand the handle wobbles a bit relative to the bit that screws to the door. I couldn't see a way of tightening the handle.

It possibly could be the square hole in the lock is worn
Handles May have a small allen key on the bottom of the handle you can tighten

Might be the hole in the handles is worn
You MAY be able to shim the handle holes as a temp measure
Worth a go i guess

I removed them and shimmed them with a cut up spark plug gap finder  you know the ones that roll out into like 20 different thicknesses of aluminum.

Replaced the door handle and that solved the wobble. A replacement wasn't easy to find. Not a single one in black on Amazon that matched the necessary specs (fixing hole spacing, and the relative position of the lock and spindle hole). Eventually found ones on ebay at a good price.

Neither the original nor the replacement are designed for a cassette spring, I would have liked to fit one, but the place it would normally sit isn't flat on this handle, so had to do without.

A timely topic after I found myself holding my garden door handle, completely unattached to the door, after opening. I’ll measure up and see what I can find that matches.
