I do wonder about what Hamilton meant in the interview about there being things going on behind closed doors that aren't great.

I think Red Bull's PU for 2026 currently rumoured to being somewhat pants played a part in Horner's departure, alongside the bigger factor of the team's overall poor performance this season. Max has probably seen this info to some extent but still needs to see where other teams are at, hence him confirming he is STILL with Red Bull for 2026.

Just thinking on this point.... how do people come to the conclusion that Redbull's upcoming PU is weak? I'm just thinking that only Redbull insiders will truly know how well things are going and even then, no team will be comparing notes with other teams to see how much power each unit is producing? Are these rumours based on just internal leaks that things are difficult and many issues are being encountered? I would think hurdles going into a new design era would be completely normal for all teams.

I remember when Merc had a massive jump on the hybrid era when it began due to a packaging design where I think they split the turbocharger and compressor on a crankshaft running through the engine V shape, making it more efficient. This was known ahead of time as obviously there were leaks and stuff. I think all the other teams ended up doing the same.

I always wonder with stories like this whether it's a perfectly normal thing - "oh, don't use the downstairs toilet the flush isn't working properly" or whatever - that's got twisted because it's fun to tell weird stories about celebrities or whether they're all bonkers.

Full radio transcripts have been released now for the race, looks like Hamilton was asked to start lift and coast from lap 3. Almost as early as Charles being asked to do it from the end of lap 1 in Austria..!

What on earth is going on with that Ferrari? Are they having to underfuel it so it’s a bit lighter and so higher from the ground?

“Lift and coast to manage brake temps” Adami
“I’m barely even on the brakes mate” Hamilton
“Ok - more needed” Adami

Either horrendous cooling, which I’m struggling to believe given Hungary and Belgium were relatively cool, or it limits plank scraping due to increasing downforce pushing the car closer to the ground.

Something is seriously wrong.

Ferrari are a joke no wonder both drivers are sick of it, given they are supposed to be racing drivers.
Might as well risk failure or DQ if you can't do the job you signed up to do.

Agreed. You can’t blame the drivers when Ferrari have a culture of ‘you can’t say anything bad about the car or the team’. It must be infuriating.

So don’t brake :D. Hamilton has endured with Mercedes through their issues, they had just resolved them, then he’s gone to Ferrari who have a whole new set of issues. He’s seriously regretting this move.

That's nuts. Must be horrible to drive an F1 car and try and be competitive whilst having to lift and coast pretty much all the time.
