USB Ports - Is the red one on your motherboard not as tight / more flexy than the others?

Bit of a random question I know, I have a new motherboard and have only been using 2 of the USB ports, today I've installed a printer in doing so I noticed that the red USB port on the motherboard is not as tight as the others,

It looks straight to look at but when I tried a USB flash drive in it, it seems seems looser to move side to side, up or down etc - as far as I can tell it doesn't affect it and it still works.

Anyone else noticed their red USB port isn't as tight?

I can't say I've noticed it. Maybe the red ones were sourced elsewhere, if they're on a separate hub.

This red port is on the motherboard, it seems to work ok, am just worried that if I upgrade in a couple of years and sell the board, someone may say it has a damaged port.

There's a red one on my friends motherboard which is not looser than the others but that's a different brand motherboard.

What I meant is, if the connector is independent from the other USB ports.

They're all attached to the board independently in the I/O part in 'stacks'. The manufacturer may have sourced the red one differently to the other ones and it has different tolerances. That's just my guess.

If the red ones are on the same stack as the other ports, then there goes my theory.

I'd just add it to the description, "red ports have always been a bit loose, but they function fine and were like this from new".

you're worried on the possibily that someone MIGHT complain IF in the future you upgrade in a couple of years....and it's not as there is an easy fix it it anyway.

I'd say you need to find something else to worry about that is more imminent and more certain !

True but I like to keep stuff in immaculate condition and store all the boxes so that if I sell it on it looks as good as the day I purchased it and the new owner is as chuffed as I was with it.

Every 3 months I'll be opening her up with a can of compressed air and a set of carburettor cleaning brushes to get any dust out of the heat-sink fins
