Lenovo Legion Go

I have just seen they are currently £329 on Amazon. Says delivery within 2-3 months but they are getting stocks almost daily. Bargain really.

Next think i will be sorting is fitting the dock under my tv so that when its docked i can use SteamOS to stream from my main PC.

I saw the Go S z2 16gb Very can be had for around £260 with the first time credit offer they have. How is the Go S like for steam remote play?

I understand that it may struggle for running heavy games like expedition 33 but what is like as a remote client while a main PC does the heavy lifting?

Honestly that'll be a pretty immense set up

That’s what I will be testing when a couple of bits arrive. My main pc is running over the WiFi so WiFi to router to Legion Go S isn’t great. Well it’s about 60fps on things like doom dark ages. I think the WiFi is causing the bottleneck. I have not tried streaming via the PS5 yet either.

Ive ordered it should arrive next week.
Ive been playing steam remote play via Apple TV with both wired with ethernet and have no issues. Im hoping that Wifi 6E is enough for the client while the PC is wired.

The LeGoS should allow me to continue playing while the wife watches TV if it all goes to plan.

Depends on your uses, personally wouldn't pay the full price ~£700 now though as they come up on much cheaper deals periodically (I got mine at just over £500). The only negative for me is that the 16GB RAM when shared with the GPU as well is a bit of a struggle to optimise with some newer games - I'll definitely be picking up a 32GB device at some point.

I just ordered a Legion Go S for about £250 using the sales and some vouchers I had. Seemed worth it for this price. I'll be sticking Steam OS on it straight away.

Took the back off mine to clean the dust out of the fan - I don't know why with parts like this they have so many clips that make it a pain to remove - the screws alone would hold it properly in place and would then be trivial to access.

Are this things really worth it?
with a power brick on a flight , it's a life changer.

my daughter is getting 4 hours on pixel type games without a brick.

I am playing a mixture of Battlesector, Alien Dark descent and Rogue trader and it's excellent .

I exclusively use mine as a geforce now device when at home on good Internet, ultimate plan, which renders the games at 4k/60hz or 1440p/120hz and looks incredible on the device.

People bang on about ergonomics of this device, but the built in kick stand on it you don't even need to really hold the device per se, it's just a case of it resting in your hands, works perfectly whether that be led in bed, on the sofa, on a desk etc.

I do have a dock to my 4k/165hz panel but rarely ever use it outside of handheld mode.

When the kids are in the soft play I always take my GO, then run lower power games like brotato etc to pass the time.

Have installed steam OS on mine as wasn't a huge Windows fan.

Anyone looking at upgrading soon? With the Xbox rog ally x and the legion go 2 around the corner? Tempted to move to the ally for the OS improvements but also tempted by the oled on the go 2... Will eventually get the windows OS improvements too.

Legion Go S finally arrived from Very.
Initial Windows setup on this is painfully slow. Loads of Windows updates needed before getting to do the BIOS and firmware updates.

The touchpad fix needs to be done manually in Windows. Make sure this is done together with all the BIOS & controller FW updates before installing SteamOS.

Mine came with an SPIO touchpad with version 12. It became v21 after the FW update.

I found these links useful for anyone else doing the first time:

From what i heard the version of w11 that they are shipped with might bloatware that reduces the performance in windows pretty dramatically. I did a dual boot and got most things working (Although the dual boot menu choice seems to have disappeared so i have to go into the boot menu and chose if i want SteamOS or Windows however i upgraded the drive to a 2Tb.

Thanks for the info regarding the trackpad. I wondered what the issue was and hadnt got round to looking into it.

This is a very good guide.

One thing i will highly recommend is getting Lossless Scaling on Steam. Its fantastic and allows me to run games at the native resolution of the screen at, in some cases, 120hz (Doom was working brilliantly at about that performance) Resident Evil 4 Remake was running at about 79FPS and even had stellar blade demo running really well. I do think it is a absolute ganechanger that bridges the gap between the lower resolution of the Steamdeck and the higher Resolution of the Legion Go S without a huge hit to performance. Dont believe me? Well try it.. Run a reasonably new game without it and record the fps and how well/smooth it runs, then activate Lossless Scaling and smile at how good it works.

+1 on lossless scaling. getting around 45fps with CO Expidition 33 with it.
Setup was confusing at first as there was some dispute about the decky plugin and the creator of the linux port of lossless scaling. Had to watch a few videos to get it cleared.

I just wish it worked for non-steam games like battle net D4. I dont want to buy it again for Steam even though it is frequently on sale.

Some games stutter with lossless scaling I found.

Still waiting for the LeGo 2, mainly for the additional memory and bigger battery. The perf is a bonus.

Yea, i even see an odd blank white flash or two while playing but still worth it for the performance gain.
The newer gen of handhelds is too pricey for my tastes. Some already approaching £1k.

Anyone can help explain how does FPS work with steam remote play? The host is running with about 100fps but legion go client is locked at 60.

Is it correct that what Im seeing in the client is 60fps? Im guessing input is also delayed a little due to frame difference excluding the network hops.
