Was thinking of getting a seasonic 1000w psu, if i remember right it is around £160ish give or take for it, is this a good choice? or can someone recommend a decent cheaper 1000w psu please

Thanks

Focus GX? Which version? There are lots. The most recent version (v4) is not a bad PSU, but a lot of niggles in the review on hwbusters, especially with UK voltage.

AMP GH looks alright, but no reviews. Is a lower tier unit than e.g. Seasonic Vertex/Antec HCG Pro and the warranty is less than most (8 year versus 10).

Personally, if I'm buying the kind of hardware that needs a 1000 watt PSU, I'm not going to skimp.

The be Quiet PSUs are good basic units.
Looking at the Tier List, the Pure power models are Good VFM, I bought the PP13M 850 watter based on that, It should be good to go on all but a 5080/90 & future equivalent power usage Cards for a fair few years.

I know I am biased but the Antec HCG Pro is probably the best shout for a decent cheap 1000W PSU. OCUK actually have a B-Grade 1200W model, cheaper, than a new 1000W model currently! The price has shot up mind. I paid £149.99 for the 1000w model at the start of the year. It is now £40 more expensive. However it can be had for £169.99 and I'm pretty sure OCUK would price match if asked.

You'll be getting a nice form factor PSU with latest features ATX 3.1, PCIe 5.1, etc. Modular cabling (nice and flexible too) along with a platinum rating and 10 year warranty.

I'm with @Tetras - don't skimp on a PSU.

Yes, the one i was looking at was the focus GX...would you avoid that model then? and thanks for replies people, will look at the psu that you all have mentioned

For what it's worth, I've had the new Focus GX (v4) for 2 months now, no issues whatsoever. Though, mine is the 750w version, not 1000w.

Well, SPL's PSU tier list put it as A-, so... it is still a good unit and better than some random cheapo. All just comes down to price for me, but even with the niggles I'd definitely take the Focus v4 over something like Corsair's RMe or MSI's A-GL.

Antec>Seasonic>Be Quiet.

Just my opinion. If you can get the Antec at the same price as the Seasonic Focus and i put the Be Quiet in last place because i do not like the ribbon cables.
