Dune: Awakening

I logged in there out of curiousity and my base is almost totally wrecked.
This decaying when you have lost interest in the game is a joke and will prove to be a shot in the foot to Funcom.
I seriously doubt ill bother to come back now when my base and belongings are decaying unless i log in every few days and i know many more will feel the same.
I just cant be arsed.

Other than that i cant complain, i got 120 hours of fun out of it but its the only game in this genre that i have in my collection that does this.

I jump in and out of Valheim, Vrising,7 days to die,Suroundead, Grounded whenever the mood takes me and they are all as i left them.

I've completely rebuilt my base. Enjoy the vibe of the game tbh, interested to see what the future holds but frustrating that we've no idea how we can transfer servers etc or when.

I did a trip around Hagga Basin on my sietch a minute ago and I'd say 10% of the bases that were there when I started remain and those left perhaps 50% have the lights on in some capacity, the rest are deteriorating.

I think that when your taxes run out (say 7 days after) you bases fieth (speeling might be wrong) should start to decay. at the moment it doesnt.

Was away for a bit and my generators ran out of power. Base is still there but some of the granite structure is critical. There's no repair all function...
I want to stay around to do the next chunk of the story but really can't be bothered running around my base repairing each structural bit that's been damaged. Plastone items have FAR, FAR more hp. Damage is dependant on how exposed the structure is but also seems a bit random / glitchy. I have some that are critical even though they're reasonably well covered/protected by other bits.

Yep same story with me, just cant be arsed rebuilding and restocking everything again.
I know atleast two other guys that play and both saying the same thing.

Id say they will lose or have lost a lot of players over this issue could could be so easily resolved.

I havnt touch the game in a week or so. Fired it up expecting to find my base in ruins. I came back to find it just as I left it with Pentashield still intact with about 8 hours left on the leccy meter. I just gathered up all my valuable harder to get stuff, loaded up my Orni and bugged out to Harko and left the base. I abandoned the console before I left and put it in the server chat that it was free for the taking. Hopefully someone was paying attention and will give someone a bit of a starting boost.
I'll come back to the game and establish a new base when the DLC drops.

Fired up the free demo as I do like Dune.

Played for a few hours and..well its okay ish but there is nothing seemingly (beyond the Dune setting) to set it apart from similar games - many of which do things better.

Might try again in 6 months to see if they have improved things but otherwise cant see this lasting very long.

Behold... my corpse juicing room !

I just logged in for the first time in a while and all my stuff has gone and my base is disappearing. I get the philosophy behind it, of course it makes sense - its Arrakis! but come on Funcom, this is isn't fun, we have lives outside games! Not surprised they are offering free weekends already but they need to make some big changes soon starting with taxes and base degradation.

I'm a bit of a completionist in games like this so I'm out exploring for missed points of interest etc. Refuse to cheat by looking online so it's taking ages :D
Ha ha, im doing the same but stuck on 61 out of 71 before crossing the Gap atm, going to have to resort to looking online. Have found some good loot hidden on top of the rock spires though :D

I have to say, from someone who was in the very early beta and didn't like the game, I'm loving it now, and I am glad I came back to it. At the time I had felt it was a re-skin of Conan and felt really clanky, that was even in late Beta stages, Its now so much better.

I could understand it if the servers were full. I think it should be linked to how busy the server is. Busier server - faster decay rate.

Pisces / Makab is pretty dead now, yet most bases are gone which makes it feel even more empty.. at least when bases were around you could explore them a bit and get ideas for your own one!

During the closed beta many of us asked the devs to increase the time limit that generators have from 3 weeks to something more reasonable like 8 weeks as life often gets in the way and a base that you've spent a lot of time and energy on building and furnishing with the top end work stations, Mats etc... can go poof if you are away from the game for 3 weeks and IMHO that is bad game design.

Taxes were also a talking point, If they NEED them ingame fine, But let people deposit money into their bank in the main cities and taxes can be taken out of there automatically.

All points ignored by devs as per usual.

The director Joel apparently has a vision for the games next 10 years but he needs to rethink some things or the game won't have 1 year nevermind 10.

This is a great idea so that you can have a break and it's not impacting new/active players game. I've not played much over the last week as I'm on NMS and Frostpunk 2 but still need to remind myself to log next week to top up power.

Its survival game, as devs said multiple times - this game is not for everybody.

But I fully agree with you, hence didn't bother to buy it after 1k+ beta hours...

I'll restart on a public server after our group decided not to renew out private server which although fun and turning off taxation was a bonus, it just didn't hold the interest any longer.

Server merging and decay rates are definitely an issue as I lost all my vehicles after not playing for 2 weeks, but it show how a vision doesn't necessarily fit with a fun gameplay experience.

It's a shame we didn't coordinate an OCUK group, could just have given each other rights to all our bases to refuel generators and pay taxes, not like it's a lot most of the time :D
