*** Big Fat Weight Loss Thread ***

I had a nurses appointment the other week at my local GPs and they referred me to a weight loss provider and I have my first appointment on Friday. Hopefully I'll be able to lose a bit of weight in a healthy manner and in a way that makes sure it stays off. I'm not sure what to expect though as I've never done anything like this before. Has anyone else used a service like this and did you manage to lose weight and keep it off?

Have a gander over here.

i had 12 weeks transfer to active living suffolk by my GP which so long as i went weekly for a chat (pretty dull but it did help keep me honest when eating) i got free access to the local leisure centre gym, swimming pool and various racket courts.

during that time i lost a 20ish lbs so i did find it useful.... did i keep it off? time will tell, i am still on the path for now however.

it was a win win however..... for me because it did help me get in the zone but the local leisure centre won out as well as once my free access expired i have signed up for a further 12 months at my own expense. i cant stand the gym and will probably never use it, but the access to the pool as well as every racket/bat and ball game you can think of i am well happy with it, but would not have dreamed of signing up without the free trial.

Ah, thank you!

I'm the same with the gym. Was thinking of getting an indoor exercise bike as that is more my style.

I'll move to the other thread now though to keep things organised.

i am a little behind schedule this year... it didnt help that in my last weigh in i put on 1.5lbs last week unexpectedly and after a social weekend weekend just gone i am not looking forward to my weigh in tonight either.

i am going on holiday next week and my goal had been to lose 3stone by then............. after last weeks gain I was back to 2.5 stone. which is still ok but disappointed to not get my pre holiday goal.

Also not gonna lie, i was a little disappointed that no one noticed i had lost any weight when i went out with my mates last weekend that i had not seen for a while. oh well, i know its coming off i guess and on the bright side my fitness has hugely improved.

This is my last stab at doing it naturally.... if i fail this time i will have to put my hand in my pocket and pony up for one of the weighloss drugs. i really do not want to however.

2.5 stone is still a massive achievement! Enjoy your holiday :D.

Thanks!. with all inclusive, a swim up bar and getting away from the stress of work for a week i am expecting to find at least 7lbs of that again :D (but i dont mind, its the carrot which keeps me going and i will shift it when i get back) Then i will be back on it and the next event to aim for is in November.

@bigmike20vt - great work on 2.5 stone weight loss. That’s amazing progress! Holiday is for enjoying, most of the gain will be water weight rather than flesh weight. Don’t waste space on your buffet plate with carbs, go for the protein and get your moneys worth! If something isn’t to your liking, just put it aside and get something else. Life’s too short to eat up mediocre or bad food because “waste”.

I’m back down to 90 kg a week after being back from my trip to the buffet (Greek all inclusive!). Haven’t been logging calories this week. Thank goodness for a decent cycle yesterday and a swim this morning otherwise I’d be on the way back up. Still got a bit of that holiday feeling going, which is making me pretty happy!

Got my secret weapon cooking to realign the gut microbiome and get rid of the bloat:

Good stuff, i sometimes wonder if i should consider making some kombucha type stuff for similar reasons. I seem to be getting a lot of gut bloating recently.

after a disappointing (and unexpected) 1.5lb gain last week I was dreading the scales this week as I went on an all day session with 2 meals out with mates over the weekend. however I lost the 1.5lb I previously put on

obviously last week was a blip and I had probably drunk more water or something but over all staying the same over the last Fortnite with 1 mammoth session I am happy with.

off on holiday next week so won't be touching the scales for 2 or 3 weeks. that won't be pretty but I have accepted a gain and not gonna let it spoil my hols. will just work extra hard when I get back

Unsure if it’ll hold but dropped below 100kg this morning which was cool at 99.6kg

Mainly water I think as spent all day yesterday loading and unloading a van in 34c during a house move and didn’t really eat anything until 9pm and didn’t drink enough water as the house we were moving from was empty so no drinks in the fridge or glasses.

My weight actually continued to drop, and Saturday i think it was 97.8kg , although today it's back at 100.1kg. Can't say i'm too surprised though. We had friends visit for the weekend with little kids so there was lots of sweets and leftover food available!

Feel pretty crappy today just because of how unhealthy i've been.

sugar makes me feel aweful and if i start on it properly i start to get migranes and just cannot funtion, im tending to leave it out if possible

Yeah, i generally do these days too. Although bread for me seems to cause the most common issues, and there was a lot of baguette/pizza crust lying around all weekend. My true nemesis

I've had a similar situation - we've got our nieces & nephew (my late sister-in-law's children) staying with us whilst their dad works away.

I hit Costco to stock up on snacks & meals for 6 kids with seemingly bottomless appetites - what we'd normally spend on a monthly shop has gone in 4 days!

Asked a family friend how they managed feeding their 6 kids when they were younger - he served in the RN with my Dad (chef on his submarine) and got given a few tips on bulking meals out with lentils, chickpeas, beans, making sure we've got plenty of fruit available ("bananas & satsumas are cheaper than Mars Bars"), etc.

But also "Kids don't care what brand the snacks are - if they're hungry, they'll eat anything".

...I guess the same applies to us as adults.

Been a week of holding steady for me. Great meal out on Wednesday with a BBQ on the weekend wasn’t the ideal way to try to drop weight.

Anyway, got a brief cycle in the gym today and will hopefully get a swim on Wednesday. Just need to keep accountable, definitely feeling a bit fatigued at the moment without an obvious cause which is frustrating.

Not been in the gym since Monday and have been eating a bit more than usual this week because I felt absolutely battered... Came in a new low of 191lbs this morning.
Not that I hold much faith in BMI but that makes me officially "overweight" and no longer "obese".
