Hi there

Back to where it all started - back in a Mustang!

GT5001.jpg

A one owner, low mileage Grabber Orange Shelby GT500, collecting later this week! :D
5.4l iron block, 500HP stock.

Will no doubt start power mods next year, car has a full Griggs adjustable coil over suspension setup.
$1500 will take it from 500HP to 650HP (CAI, Pulley & Tune)
$3000 SC swap will take it from 650-800HP
New pistons, injectors, fuel pump and drop pulley on SC swap and looking at 1000HP.

I will probably stop at 650HP, be more than enough in such an old beast, but I loved my Saleen and far preferred it over newer S550 I owned, so when this came along, it had to be done. :D
That's lovely, I've actually been looking at them myself, probably the only car I'd swap my old s197 for, but even then I still don't think I could give up the old girl. :D

Wheel refurb day today. I wanted either a super bright silver or chrome powder coat. There's lots of chrome or polished aluminium bits around the car so I took the brave pill and went for chrome. I think it looks fantastic, much better than black centres and silver rims - you can actually see the wheels now!

With them being powder coated they have all the benefits of polished/chrome wheels without the maintenance, they are finished with ordinary lacquer as per any other colour powder coating.

Second track day at Anglesey last week, such a good track and we had the best weather, great mix of cars and guys, and some really good laps! Had to fill up mid way through the day!

our 1000 bhp car is insanely fun haha, the S650 is a bit more laid back for now

I borrowed this for a couple of weeks before my mate sold it, I'd say probably the best S550 in existence as it had all the genuine Ford GT350 kit on it, hubs, brakes, suspension parts, body kit, further improved with KW Clubsports and of course he was Whipple Supercharged with somewhere between 800-900HP:
GT350 handling and stopping power (some of best brakes I have ever experienced on any car) and GT500+ horsepower levels, a very unhinged drive and every drive was a mission to just survive driving it if you went near throttle. :D

I know of the car ;) and spotted the badge :) im massively against "upbadging" this is a no expense spared. Also tuned by us is the yellow car :) we have legit GT350Rs on the book with over 850 bhp with that screaming voodoo . wouldnt say its the best S550 in the uk but its well specced and built , we have pumped a lot of high end builds out that equal or better this :D

also see plenty of our work here https://www.youtube.com/@MotorsportPerformance/videos

give us a call if you ever want to come play with anything or want anything doing pal :D

I really want to love it.

Can you get him to have another go? :p
:D

Drop of IPA will sort that out ;)

Reminds me of when I bought an uprated recirc valve for my Octavia from Awesome GTi. They decided to send their anniversary edition one that they were so proud of with 'AWESOME' machined into it. I felt a bit of a **** saying that I really wanted just the plain one :p

Very nice! Wheels could do with a refurb by looks of things. If it was me, I'd get them replaced as I don't think they suite the car. Not aggressive enough for me personally. Depends how standard you want the look to be I guess. :) Something like these (I know black wheels argh!) but you get the idea.

See photos above - were done recently by previous owner. :)

As the car is still on its original (build date 2007) Goodyear F1 Supercar Tyres (yeah some US stuff) then of course these will be due a change. Thankfully they still look brand new as the original owner removed the wheels / tyres within first year of ownership and fitted some Shelby 20" wheels, so though the tyres are 18 years old they still feel soft and no visible cracks, I am of course mindful they are pretty poor, need plenty of heat to grip and next to useless in wet.

The wheels are 18x9.5" all round, but the stock tyre size is 255/45/18 front (slight stretch look) and 285/40/18 rear which look too big for wheel, factory sizes!
So I am contemplating going with a 275/40/18 square setup and running a semi slick like the latest AD09 RS tyre, so better in wet than these F1 but the square setup will improve turn in to help with big anchor up front, as its a cast iron 5.4l engine up front. Then some cooling mods (triple rad / fans) then do the 650HP bolt-on kit and go do some track days in it, as will be hilarious, shall change out the pads as its still got EBC yellow pads in it from 2009.

Need some classic OcUK car-park sound-test footage of the Mustang for sure!

Its a very mellow sounding car, my R8 is far louder, it has a Borla catback on the car that is quite tame (will be track day legal), does sound lovely and of course means the SC whine is easily audible, engine wise the car is total factory stock, just the catback exhaust.

The suspension has had a full overall by Griggs Racing though, about £7000 worth of kit, coilovers, torque thrust arms, adjustable arms, adjustable panhard bar, quite a list, not pushed it yet really, apart from a couple of junctions which are proving it has same issue as my Caterham did, can't pull out straight, hilarious fun in such a big thing, so much more predictable than my S550 was when messing around.

Bloody entire car is dynamatted as well, so it probably weighs 2 tonne now. :D

Do we get to punch you in the arm when we see you with your yellow car :D

For sure, followed by a Yeeee Ha and a punch back. :p
