I’ve not played a RE game since 5 and that was co op I believe. I should really try the others.
You are in for a treat. Although I prefer traditional zombies for a RE game I found 7 and 8 to be masterpieces, the village moreso. Imo I would skip 6 altogether.

RE 1 and 2 for me are the best. 7 and 8 were mega, but i too prefer zombies. I played 7 in VR, well, i lasted 5mins. Once Jack came hammering down the corridor swinging an axe at me i threw off the headset and sold it.

I did play 6, wasn't great, but i had to play for completion of the series :)

Looking forward to 9!

Last post in thread was over a month ago though, I will poke you in the ears.

FWIW, RE2 was regarded as the GOAT of the original games, so you had a hell of a first introduction playing the near perfect remake!

Near perfect? Not even close tbh. I prefer the original and think they should have done much better. It was a good remake that was far from perfect.

How dare you :P
I've replayed it a bunch of times and loved it. It was night and day better than the original RE1 Remake on the Gamecube that was later remastered for modern consoles/PC's - and that was still great, as it had the option of tank controls.

2 Remake was only missing a few parts from the original, but other than that, I stand by what I said.

I recently went back and replayed RE3 Nemesis, and people must have had beer goggles on, as the remake only missed a few parts, and the original was pretty short just like the remake, and nowhere near the length of 2. But I'd agree 3 remake is the weaker game - but you just take it for what it is, and I'm thankful that we got it at all, as with 2.

However 4 Remake IS perfect. I will die on that hill!

Drop dead already :p

Jokes aside. It's not just about what was missing in RE2 vs original. It is that they did not take the chance to expand on it in a meaningful way. Also the way it was recreated. Would have preferred they stuck with the original with updated graphics than what they did in the end.

Still a solid 9 out of 10 game. Just not the 10 out if 10 I was hoping for. I still prefer the original.

As for RE3. I prefer the original a lot more. Does not mean I dont like the remake. But it again is not what I wanted. They should have stuck to the OG game and made Nenisis encounters dynamic. That would have been so much better.

RE4 remake I agree is better than the OG however. They did a good job there :D

What is your ranking of RE games? Will post mine soon.

Hush you! :P

Wait what? Your gripe is that they didn't change it? That could have ended very badly? Sod that!
So bar it missing a few bits, you agree it was a pretty faithful and decent remake then?

So would you have preferred a RE1 style remake with the option of tank controls and the fixed camera - if so I'd totally be game for that too; but it be a toggle option. As I personally loved the remake of 0 and 1 - I even recently replayed them too, which led me to end with RE3 Nemesis and Dino Crisis on PS1.

RE3R, go back and play the original, it's still great, but a lot shorter than people remember, or pretend to... Then remember the remake, there's not 'that much' in it, they missed the worm boss, the bit with the fire hydrant, the place where the water feature puzzle is, and the restaurant that explodes where you go into the sewer as an option. IIRC that was about it. Still love the original and it holds up well when upscaled/tweaked in DuckStation, as does Dino Crisis - but that is weaker, but still good, and multiple endings.

RE4R is flawless, the Ada DLC was good enough too, yes that could have been done better, but again, for what it is, and the fact we eventually got it, I'll take it.

For me the OG 1 is the weakest game, OG 4, 2, then CVX, 3, 1, Survivor - saying that I have also completed CVX recently, and it could be joint tied with OG 2...
Remake wise, 4, 2, 3, 0 and 1 tied - I also played 0 remake for the first time recently after replaying 1 remake.
