Exactly. Not sure why this is lost on so many people. Your competition for you spot in the team is different at different teams. Some players need a season of first team football to settle in. Some need a lower pressure environment. Some come in and immediately displace their counterpart but at big teams its rare that a "nobody" comes in and does that.

Agreed what a waste. He has close to a decade of career left. Surely they could have done a two way switch with Newcastle and everybody would have won then. I am sure he might even have gotten a second wind at Newcastle without the pressure and being the main man there.

Yup, for fee he has gone for must have been Europe clubs able to do it

Hell Napoli offer was around same why not go there.

anything remotely close to the figures being mentioned about for Jackson would be massively overpaying

Without checking - I imagine it’s the paycheque persuaded him. Saudi clubs gonna be offering huge ££’s compared to the likes of a Napoli.
 
I'd rather we sign Jackson than Nunez but it's hardly an exciting prospect. Dubravka has agreed to join Burnley, leaving us with only 5 first team goalkeepers :rolleyes:

The Chelsea supporters I know say he is just not good enough for them..

I wouldn't want him at Man U tbh so not sure really if Newcastle should be overly excited either (I know not many are in this thread but yeh...)

Yeah if they're looking for someone equal to Isak that wants to join them...well they'll be looking forever. Sometimes you just have to take the loss in that area and hope you can strengthen other areas to make up for it.
