Agree with most of the above - appears to have some top end talent at times but then can go missing in games and is totally ineffective.

Not really sure his best position - Feels like a good "squad" player (a la McSauce) but not sure how long he's hang around if he's not playing.

He needs a better player next to him to be able to develop IMO. He will get plenty of game time I imagine but we are missing a player in that midfield. The issue is that its likely the midfield 2 will be Bruno + A.N.Other. A midfield of Bruno and Mainoo doesn't really work.

Yeah, i think he'd be excellent if you put him with one (or two) players who complimented his weaknesses and allowed him to excel.

At the moment there are too many similar styles where we have good players, and too many bad players for the rest!

Not sure I can take another season of watching Hojlund unable to trap a ball, hopefully Sesko gets done.

Surely you cant be a footballer if you cant control the ball properly, and getting paid £85k a week for the privilege.

Feel kinda bad for him though considering the wingers he has been playing were more interested in scoring then assisting.

I'd be much happier loaning him out to rediscover some form than selling him now for £30m. If he consistently got back what he showed in that short spell before injury for a year or two he could easily be back being worth £70m i'd have thought

I don't mind hanging on to Hojlund as a second striker. He's just not good enough to be the starting #9. With Mbuemo and Cunha driving forward making opportunities he could start getting some confidence.

Although I do think Zirkzee is a naturally much more gifted footballer and I'd rather see him get more gametime. His physicality and hold up play is light years ahead of Hojliund.

Personally feel it's far too early to call it. See more in him than I saw from Rashford at this point. Who just ran into people and out of play and smashed the ball aimlessly... for years and never stopped doing such. Local lad though etc etc

Hojlund been playing in a forward line of Rashford, Garnacho and Antony for most his time. He's 22 years old. He'll do well having the competition of Sesko and the greater degree of football brains in Mbuemo and Cunha playing off him. This season will be an interesting watch when he's playing.

And that's without factoring Mount if he can find his way back from picking up his weekly free lollipop from the club doctor.

I don't think Hojlund should be written off yet. He may not be the best striker ever but considering the on-field performances with Rashford/Garnacho (both wanting to leave Utd) and them preferring to try to score rather than set Hojlund up, has he had a fair chance. With Mbeumo and Cunha hopefully assisting him and some competition from Sesko I think he deserves another season to try to shine.

So, we have made some good signings and Sesko to be announced on Saturday, plus this Baleba lark, I am ready to be hurt again, BUT I can feel it. Just that little bit of hope.

I mean, we have a good handful of young players, Yoro, looking like he will be worldclass, that South American kid (Leon?), rough, young and hungry. Got some experience in the squad, a manager who sticks to his guns, the trash being forced out, as bad as it is but a necessary evil - job cuts due to bloating, a what seems on paper, a solid structure within the hierarchy.

IF we play good football, score goals, cos we lacked last year, and finish top 8 I will be happy. Get those 10-12 points first 5 games and we will do well.

Make it happen for the love of god Amorim, make it happen.

Watched some goals by Sesko just now, he looks to be left footed but can hit it with his right foot and hit it well. There is one goal where he hit it with his right foot from outside the box and it was well struck into the top corner.

I am hoping he will turn out like what Amorim did with Gyokeres in Sporting and turned him into a goal machine. Even half that output would be an improvement.

I could be wrong but I think we desperately need a reliable 1st choice keeper along with a cm - Onana is going to cost us points but possibly worse, confidence. Especially if he decides to throw a couple in his own net early season.

Thing is we aren't competing for the top where the keeper costs you enough. There's possibly also a few games he had a blinder and i think if you say he costs 5 goals over a season vs an alternative. It's not enough of an issue until you're really competing for top 4 which shouldn't be our current ambition.

We've remedied the forward line and those 5 goals he concedes should start being less impactful anyway. The main issue is we couldn't score, so him having a howler in a game and costing us a goal only causes issues if you can't then score at least 2.

having a keeper who's prone to a howler costs more than just the points - there's the confidence hit the rest of the team takes knowing they have a liability behind them.
