Four irrepressible retirees spend their time solving cold case murders for fun, but their causal sleuthing takes a thrilling turn when they find themselves with a real whodunit on their hands.

Based on Richard Osman’s bestselling novel.

Watch The Thursday Murder Club 28th August

Looks cool. Sadly I don't have Netflix so won't be seeing it
Very limited release in cinemas as well iirc (2 weeks?)

Never read the books it's based on, but I really like Richard Osman from his Entertainment podcast, so I will definitely watch this!

Normally, Netflix money, plus a well known cast like this = crap, but this will be the exception!

I think the trailer looks great, they've nailed the characters. Looking forward to this.

I found the first book quite a tricky read originally, he was still developing the personalities and it was quite complicated. I re-read it later having read the next two books and found it a lot better with more knowledge about the characters.

It was also his first ever book.

As an author he has developed considerably since then.

Supposed to be in (limited) cinema release from today. Can't see it in Spain and the 5 London cinemas I just checked also aren't showing it.

I know nothing about this, beyond the trailer, but I really like Richard Osman from listening to his This is Entertainment podcast. Seems like one of the nicest, most knowledgeable people, I have heard talk about TV and Films.

Reminder, this is on Netflix today yesterday. I plan to watch it tonight or tomorrow.

For those who listen to the podcast, yesterday they interviewed Chris Columbus, who talked about this film and others he's worked on (Home Alone, Mrs Doubtfire, Harry Potter 1 & 2 etc).

I thought Brosnans accent in Mobland was bad but in this his cockney seems to be playing a cockney who spent a long time in Australia via darkest Norfolk. :D

Entertaining film in a harmless sort of way although could have done without Tennant hamming the place up.

Just finished watching, yeah, Ron’s accent was a bit hit and miss but overlooking that, it was a perfectly fine film. Wifey and I enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed this. Nice, easy, heartfelt movie with a few laughs.

Not the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen, no big revelations in the plot either but honestly really don’t care, it was a cheerful watch. :)

100% agree with this. I really enjoyed the Britishness of the whole thing as well (the cast, the setting etc). My only concern about the inevitable sequels, that I will watch off course, is the age of the old duffers that make up the main cast. :p

7.5/10

Found my attention wandering around 20-30 minutes in or so and turned it off, maybe one for a rainy day but the human side of the story didn't really interest me.
