Just a note on the game - it has rubber banding, so the better you play the harder it gets.

That makes sense actually. If I'm lucky I can smash 20k in the first round and then totally fall apart a minute later. Other time I can do 4-5 levels but with 6k per round scoring.

Missing from my Mame set weirdly. Time to update to 0.279 anyway.

Works on my oldest install of MAME UI where I scored a whopping 12,745 on my third try, although my 0.262 and 0.277 haven't been working great for a bit.

I must have played this in the arcade but maybe it was more on home computer versions like C64 and Atari 8 bit and I certainly remember getting further than I did above. The speech is so dated.

I've tilted my arcade stick 30 degrees so I don't get confused which way to push the stick.

14,185 - got to level 2 and the stupid thing that changes tiles i didn't realise i could catch until it was far too late!

I don't think I'll get much higher but we will see!
