Mafia: The Old Country

This sounds about right. The original is one of my favourite games ever.
What was removed in the remake?? Was it censored for the...*eye twitch*....moderrrrn audience?

Removed the monorail, removed many of lucas side missions if not all of them. Remove the ability to do missions your own way. I remember in the first mission where you have to escape driving Sam and Paulie in your taxi, in mafia 1 you could ram them off the road in the first corner if done right and then mission complete, minus the getting to saliaris bar part.in the remake, you have to go down certain roads, to have to see the cut scene, to have to do the next bit, etc. Far less freedom.

I'm sure there is more but I've forgot

Alright so I actually like it a lot, the voice acting and story appear to be very very good, like playing through a proper gangster movie. The graphics are also very good, cutscenes are higher quality in the cinematics but in-game cutscenes are realtime.

On a 4090 it runs on average 91fps at 4K DLSS 4 Performance. Enabling frame gen drops the base fps by a big amount though, around 60fps making the generated fps around 100-110 in built up areas, though some areas it's 85fps, still responsive and smooth. Visually looks identical in Performance to DLAA, so another game where there is no reason to use "native" rendering over DLSS 4 upscaled. Frame Gen has no adverse artefacts or latency, so again can be used if preferred.

Shader comp is done at the start, no traversal stutters, overall smooth running. Load times take a few seconds.

Black levels are not lifted so OLED gamers will appreciate this!

Spoke to soon, was playing with mouse earlier so didn't notice but now playing with controller and camera movement seemed off, so enabled RTSS and notice that camera panning has micro juddering:

Slippery slope that. You might turn into the Italian equivalent of Paul and start defending any game that is made by an Italian studio(or has even the most tenuous link) or any game that is set there lol.
There are plenty of bad Czech games (e.g. Inquisitor, El Matador, Vietcong 2, Flying Heroes immediately come to mind) but I am not going to pretend games lika Mafia, KCD or Factorio are not fantastic, when they are. No apologies :p

No arguments there but not played a few of those. I did actually play Last Train Home demo though and it's on my wishlist (appreciate that is made by THQ Nordic).

Also I promise I will try get through KCD at some point. Even if I have to cheat just so I can enjoy the exploration and story part.

Was this with a normal controller though? Or one of these random Chinese brands you've mentioned before that require an 'app' of their own?

You never completed KCD? Pathetic!

I rarely complete any game TBF. Also I don't tend to play a lot these days that are completable in the traditional sense.
Not always the game's fault, just get distracted with other stuff.

Too busy restarting the game from the beginning, never get to the end :p

Did you ever complete Startfield?

You are actually right there, chronic restart-itus. I got 300+h on rogue trader, and probably half of those were on a playthrough I abandoned lol, but I did see one to the end recently. Probably wait until all the DLC is out before I do it again.

And yeah I did (as in I went to NG+) but I didn't do all the side content etc. I mean it was bang average but something kept me going.
I find it easier to game in the winter months to be honest so I'm sure I'll pick some stuff up then.

Also apologies, I've proper derailed this but it was TNA's fault for egging me on :p
