Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

Serious question, what is this odd fixation that Newcastle fans have about Man Utd.

They want to be one of the big boys and it really really really annoys them when they have a good season and United have a **** one and United are still a much bigger draw than them.

Serious question, what is this odd fixation that Newcastle fans have about Man Utd. This fake rivalry that has been feuding for oh at least two years now is just borderline obsession.

From a Utd fans point of view, Newcastle are a great source of entertainment, dare I say amusement. The day the fixture list comes out I doubt any Man Utd fan worth their salt sits there saying 'YESSS We got Newcastle on such and such a date'

Rivals ????? Not a chance
I think they may just like playing Man Utd, looks like they won four of the last five PL meetings.

E: TBH I'd wait until the end of the season, if Newcastle finish above you again it'll be the third year in a row.

Although, saying that, with the transfer window so far I can't see Man Utd having another awful season and Newcastle will find it harder as well.

So twice and a potential third compared to years above them in double figures for Man United. Come on now… I think we’ll survive.

Calm down, just looking at the stats.

Hell, Man Utd had a few dodgy seasons when Fergie started but we know full well how that turned out

Not that I'm saying you have another Fergie in charge but Man Utd never stay down for long.

E: Newcastle are surprising in how farcical this transfer window has been so far. Finishing well, winning a trophy, Champions League football - you'd think that'd be appealing to quite a few players.

Listening to a podcast with Scholes/Carragher and fans and this came up. Scholes mention / asked the Newcastle fan along the lines of “who do you think will win the league first between Newcastle and Man United?”

He has a point, odds are Man United will win it again before Newcastle despite the progress under Eddie Howe.

They are appealing to a lot of players but its basically an interview.

People get rejected for a job and they whinge and complain because they did well in the interview and fit all the criteria. The issue is that you didn't get the job because there was someone better. If a job says you need to be able to run 100m in 12s and you can do 11s, you probably won't get the job over someone that can run 100m in 10s.

Thats Newcastles issue. Who have they lost out to that isn't an inarguably bigger side than they are?

Fair point although I thought they were looking to get someone in to play in a side with Isak. They sold Wilson and Isak doesn't want to stay.

Not the best situation TBH.

Perfectly calm, just found it a weird thing to state considering the history :)

It has been a strange window really, but people talk about United fans being entitled, what does that mean when it comes to Newcastle fans after a saudi takeover and a carabao cup win and expecting everyone will flock to them. It's really quite amusing. :D

(Disclaimer: I'm under no illusion that this will change our fortunes, but I just hope for the umpteenth time that this may be the turning point for us and Amorim.)

From the only reliable source I trust around Brentford news, Newcastle currently nowhere with Wissa.

Can't see anything happening until the Isak is situation is settled.

I'm no fan of Man Utd but I don't hate them, I don't hate any team TBH (my only rivalry is with Posh as my best mate supports them - us lower leaguers can't hate teams in the PL really  )

That said, I don't like to see them thrashing about towards the bottom of the league like last season. It just seems wrong.

Newcastle, I have a soft spot for having lived there and been to St James Park 4 times (two wins over City, one over Arsenal and a draw with Liverpool - yeah I'm a lucky charm  )

I can see why they get so passionate. They're loyal to a fault and the City is the club. There's no other club in Newcastle unlike Manchester, Liverpool, London....

It's possibly also because they're are a one team city, and if i were a betting man i'd say 95% of newcastle fans are from newcastle.. or have family roots there.. Whereas with teams like Man Utd and Liverpool.. and now Man C.. they gain fans because they are/were the biggest team ..

Man City were the same but back then they could just flash the cash around. It is obviously much harder for Newcastle to do that now. Man City were pretty much meme city for yonks and even now with all the success they have had in the past decade Man Utd can still have a bigger pull than them so what chance do Newcastle have?

That is not saying Newcastle cannot get there but it will take another 10-20 years at least. It will not be instant that some fans are expecting.

Happy you are all chatting about the “small club” Newcastle lol. Obviously insignificant.

Man Utd are a massive global club there is no denial and they are vastly bigger than we are, it will take many years and many more cups to even come close. That is facts I as a Newcastle fan will not even attempt to deny.

Other than that it’s just funny how your fanbase has had the most hilarious melt down in like 10years because you have been a complete mess… I don’t think anyone can deny that either.

So it’s just a bit of a laugh really. It’s only becoming a thing now because Man Utd fans are suddenly turning up the heat in their “p*** taking” towards us… which we deserve for this transfer window but it’s weird how they say we are a nothing club… but they are claiming this and a massive win for them because they can still sign top players lol no one ever doubted you could. But why are you even bothered taking a player ahead of us ? We are just annoyed more so because we have been let down a bit with the strategy this summer, the whole Man Utd thing is just because it’s recent. And the whole thing about wages is a bit of a naff argument to throw at us as well… just seems like you finally have something to be positive about so you are jumping all over it.

Sure we will still slap you in the league :)

Hmmm I can deny it and I will deny it....... No melt down here. We have been crap, without doubt, no question about it. Failed transfer after failed transfer. Pants ripped down, paid over the odd's, CEO's way out of there depth and making claims that were laughable. Absentee landlords allowing the club to drift into the ground.

Don't take this the wrong way but no Man Utd fan is turning up the heat. If I look at our main rivals it's Liverpool, Arsenal, City, Leeds, Spurs, Everton, West Ham in that kind of order. Seriously Newcastle are just not on our radar. If Bolton were in the Prem, I would look forward to that fixture before a Newcastle game That's not arrogant, that's just fact.

The Sesko transfer was amateur hour. You had regional National Press reporters who had clearly been briefed and they were turning up the heat claiming that Newcastle had given Sesko ultimatums and deadlines to chose. Newcastle via the press played their hand way too early and pumping the fans with utter brain rot.

End of the day I wish Newcastle just good vibes. I have family up there. It's a working class City with some great genuine fans. Without doubt since the takeover there has been a massive bag of King Edwards lumped on your collective shoulders. Cartel this, top six monopoly that, it's utter b****cks

Bigger draw? No because everyone knows they would chuck £300k per week at the problem even if you've only scored 12 goals previously. Has PSR not existed Newcastle would be blowing you out the water and you would spend the next 50 years talking about 1999.

Man City were the same but back then they could just flash the cash around.
Flash the cash? They did it spending much less than you and not even going for the huge transfers and wages that United could spend. Sure breaking rules accelerated that to try to play on some kind of even footing but it's not like they did poorly with how they invested the money into transfers.

Owned by a literal cartel but moaning about a made up one, just newcastle things.

You have all gone quiet about blood money when you take £60m from the Middle East to prise a player you want. Lets not pretend you would have any objections if they keep helping to fund your teams progression if it means winning.
