Resident Evil 9: Reqium (releasing Feb 27, 2026)

Here is my list :D

So would you have preferred a RE1 style remake with the option of tank controls and the fixed camera - if so I'd totally be game for that too; but it be a toggle option. As I personally loved the remake of 0 and 1 - I even recently replayed them too, which led me to end with RE3 Nemesis and Dino Crisis on PS1.

RE3R, go back and play the original, it's still great, but a lot shorter than people remember, or pretend to... Then remember the remake, there's not 'that much' in it, they missed the worm boss, the bit with the fire hydrant, the place where the water feature puzzle is, and the restaurant that explodes where you go into the sewer as an option. IIRC that was about it. Still love the original and it holds up well when upscaled/tweaked in DuckStation, as does Dino Crisis - but that is weaker, but still good, and multiple endings.

RE4R is flawless, the Ada DLC was good enough too, yes that could have been done better, but again, for what it is, and the fact we eventually got it, I'll take it.

For me the OG 1 is the weakest game, OG 4, 2, then CVX, 3, 1, Survivor - saying that I have also completed CVX recently, and it could be joint tied with OG 2...
Remake wise, 4, 2, 3, 0 and 1 tied - I also played 0 remake for the first time recently after replaying 1 remake.

That hurts my head reading that. List it nicely like me ;)

As for RE2 Remake. What I wanted was for them to stick closer to the OG RE2. Wanted to see that game in today's graphics. They changed too much and just does not feel the same to me. It just did not click for me the way I wanted. I dont get the same or similar feels playing the Remake.

They could have expanded on the passing things from Leon to Clair from one save to another. Instead they stripped it out. They could have done things to make it more replayable.

To me the OG Remake was awesome. Better in every way. Used to be my number two on the list amd RE2 was in top spot. But over the years I think i realised that it is number 1 :)
 
After they finish CV and RE0 remakes. I look forward to them remaking RE1 again. By then we will likely be 2030 or 32. Graphics would look juicy :D

They really should not bother with RE5 and 6 remakes. Dont really care for those. Thats when the whole franchise took a nose dive. Especially 6. If they were to remake 6. It would have to be a an almost complete overhaul at which point it won't be RE6 no more. Which would not be a bad thing actually. But waste of resources still imo unless done very well.

So you wanted an RE2R that was done like the original RE1R on the Gamecube, ala tank control options and fixed camera angles? Just like I suggested above ;)
On that basis, I'd be all for an RE2R done how RE1R was :) Cant argue with that - funnily enough, there was a fan made one, that CAPCOM shutdown, that got quite far? Have a look on Youtube, you might still find gameplay footage, you'd like that version.

Yeah, I loved the RE1R, as I say I recently binged all of the OG's and remakes, and loved playing RE1R and 0 Remaster.

Mmmm a RE1R would be very nice! Just so it's all in the same engine and ages the same, ala TLOU1/2, versus when we just had the PS3 remaster of TLOU1 but the new engine in TLOU2.

RE5/6 don't exist in my head, they can GTFO. I tried to play 5 again recently, and it was the quickest Steam refund I've ever done. Utter garbage. Very not Resi with a Resi skin!

Sorry I meant Remaster ;) as it was the HD remaster version of the original Gamecube version. It's because I played RE1R and 0 straight after, both in the HD Remastered versions, so it gets a bit of a mouthful, as RE1R is technically RE1RR as it's Resident Evil 1 Remake Remaster ;) If we're being technical :D

Sorry I meant Remaster ;) as it was the HD remaster version of the original Gamecube version. Didn't need to be done with fixed angles, but yeah, that would be better. I think it adds a lot to RE games. I am not so bothered about tank controls as much.

Looking forward to RE9. Hopefully can get the pre order for around £35 on cdkeys :)

I really liked the RE1RR camera angles. Would happily play any Resi remake like that :) Tank controls I can take or leave, but as I say, replaying RE3N recently on PS1, and CVX before that, I didn't mind them :)
Did you checkout that fan made RE2R? The one Capcom shutdown? Was pretty decent!
Yeah same! I also replayed RE7/Village back to back this year, still excellent. I liked the Village DLC too, was a nice lil bonus.

Best get your OLED screens ready too this isn't the type of game experience you want on anything except OLED :)

I concur, I used to always say that HDR was a gimmick and a crap one at that...then I got an OLED and finally understood just how good colours and lighting could look in a combination of HDR and OLED. Dont think I could ever go back to a non-OLED now
 
Even without HDR an OLED looks way better than any other display with HDR :D

For some reason the first-person RE games haven't done it for me, so a little disappointed this new title has gone in that direction. But I know it's been mega popular, so not entirely surprising!
