2025/26 Preseason Thread

Yeah but at that point he was second choice. With Sesko signing he's arguably third choice which to me says that he is being moved out and they will sell him if they can.
I think if it was for certain he'd be in the exile group. I think they'll accept a good offer if they get it. What is weird to me is that Obi didn't play at all vs Everton, wonder if he'll come on today.

Nah - he's done nothing to deserve being part of that crowd. Berada is pretty firm on his policy that if you haven't proven yourself after two seasons then you are moved on. As you said, if we get a decent offer I think they will move him on and risk Obi as the deputy. If Rasmus stays then Obi needs to go on loan. Personally I'd prefer that outcome. Whilst Hojlund probably isn't good enough I do feel it's slightly harsh to judge him on last season.

Nice ovation for De Gea - still think it was a mistake to let him go.

Neither has Malacia or Antony though

Well that was a free hit if ever there was one. Diabolical defending.

Bayindir has all the movement of a Terracotta Army statue.

Yeah, 2 years is plenty of time to prove yourself. You might lose the odd future star but very few players don't show anything after 2 years and magically turn it around in the next year and you can't wait forever. Even Chelsea were probably right to let Salah and De Bruyne go. Both of them weren't close to their final form at Chelsea and they might never have made it there. Chelsea could have held onto them for years without them coming good.

Poor defending there. Good finish though.

The state of this MUTV commentary.

‘He just got a bit of swaz on it.’

The co-commentator they have does my nut. Almost Macmanananananaman levels of irritating.

If we can get Sesko firing, we will score a lot of goals this season. Midfield still very lightweight and slow but the forward line is aggressive and dynamic.

not seen much of Sesko, I assume he good with his head. Agree with midfield, really could do with making that area stronger.

I’ve only seen bits and bobs of the preseason games but what bits I have seen have actually impressed for the most part. Also, is Mount starting to look like a player again or is he flattering to deceive?!

Casemiro and Maguire stick out like sore thumbs still. Immediate targets for pressure when they have the ball and nowhere near quick enough when they don't.

Yea he seems decent with his head - I reckon if midfield isn’t shored up we could be in for some high scoring games this season!! Even if the rest of the team reverts to their form of last season - mbeumo, Bruno, cunha, and sesko (assuming he’s not pants) will surely score a bag full of goals.

There are some slicker passing moves and better movement but it's patchy. Mount? I'm not convinced, it's always been flashes but no more. 9/10 for effort but he's lightweight as a number 9!

Yes - that's the big problem - pace in the middle.

Yoro and Heaven - for such young players I'm very impressed by them. I actually think Heaven offers more than Shaw but i am biased.
Cunha and Mbeumo both showing some good touches and movement.

The one thing I am disappointed in is the lack of crosses or cut backs from open play. We don't get in behind. I watched part of the Arsenal game the other day and they got the ball in the box so often. Much more penetration than we are seeing.
