Summer Transfer Window 25/26 *Sponsored by Bigpig*

Had Liverpool stumped up at the end of June / Beginning of July however, I feel a deal would have been made without replacements in place.
I don't. I think this has always been a case of Newcastle needing replacements in first. We've started to see how your fans are beginning to lose patience with the club due to the lack of activity, not just on transfers but the stadium etc and there's no way Newcastle could be seen to have sold their star player without having brought in somebody that would excite the fans.

Maybe, although I personally feel the clubs have been naïve in thinking he'd (Isak) would just be happy to hang around after getting CL and probably were wanting to concentrate on other positions / back up striker first, with a view to getting a long term replacement (Ekitike / Sesko) that would have bedded in over the season. I dunno, if a firm offer has come in early - I suspect we'd have moved a little differently.

not on about the offer im talking about unsettling a top target
Like Gyokeres? At this level (and even throughout the EFL) clubs approach players first before they waste their time trying to negotiate a fee for a player. How much the player wants the move and how much they'll push for it is then down to the player. If anybody believes that Romano tweeting 10 times per day about Isak wanting to join Liverpool has caused Isak to want to join Liverpool then I've got some magic beans to sell them. It just so happens that Isak really wants the move and has kicked up as much of a fuss as possible to try and force it through and some Newcastle supporters find that hard to accept, probably because they were so 'arrogant' in believing that he wouldn't want to leave them for Liverpool.

Didn’t realise you lived next door to Isak and talked to him over the back fence about who he wants to play for next. Have a look at who else his Agent manages, Isak is his golden goose, this is all agent driven.

There's been so much media speculation trying to paint Newcastle negatively over this - and the coverage has been constant - this isn't just a few tweets, it's everywhere.

That adds a layer of pressure on the club - I mean you have people on here and elsewhere saying players shouldn't go to Newcastle because we hold them hostage etc.

I'll be polite and say it's naïve to think it's not had this effect, which is turn is putting pressure on the club to lower what they think is a fair market rate for their prized asset. As I said when other supporters are comparing Wissa, the difference is that one deal doesn't have massive media coverage, constantly fuelled by the same people calling for Brentford to "Free Wissa", or to say they are wrong to hold out for a fee / replacement. I truly believe if this was Chelsea doing it for Isak, you'd not have such a strong stance.

nail on head. 100%

Baz is always incredibly biased

Nobody cares about Chelsea nowadays, they just throw so much crap at the wall and hope something sticks, if not just loan them out.

Couldn't tell you one player they have bought this window, bar the Ipswich player. how many have they bought?

I find it hard to believe that Isak's desire to leave will have come as a big surprise to Newcastle. It makes no sense for Isak to spring this on the club as it only makes you signing a replacement harder and his chances of leaving slimmer. Newcastle will have known going into the summer that Isak was looking to move, even if they didn't believe he was going to push as hard as he has.

lol what? Are you disputing that he wants to join Liverpool?

I don't dispute that Isak and Liverpool are trying to pressure you into selling the player and or selling him for less than you'd want to sell him for. My point is around this ridiculous suggestion that 'Liverpool's mouthpieces on twitter' have unsettled the player. This is pure nonsense. The media circus we're now seeing is because Isak wants to leave and has been willing to push for the move, not the other way around.

He wants to join whoever his agent tells him to, as I said he’s his golden goose

Oh come on that's ridiculous. I know you went big on this for months and told us all how he wouldn't want to leave but this is some serious denial.

And to be clear, I'm not saying he only wants to join Liverpool and wouldn't be interested in x, y or z too if they were in for him but one thing is crystal clear, no matter how much you don't want to believe it, and that's Isak wants to leave and in this case, to Liverpool and is forcing it as much as he can. You can try to blame Liverpool, his agent and twitter as much as you want but a senior, experienced player is not being forced into this. He wants to leave. The circus we're now seeing is a result of that and nothing more. If Isak didn't want the move then this does not happen.

“arrogant” lol Rights that’s gets things straight.

Love the entitlement of Liverpool fans and they idea of Liverpool being a very special club.

Your clubs only has pull because you have consistently been one of the top wage bills in the league for the past 10 years despite most crying about net spend. You special clubs was getting pipped to the post by Chelsea a few seasons ago to your most wanted midfielders.

The PL has been locked down now so clubs like Newcastle and Villa can’t build squads because of PSR and leaves them open to the rich clubs.

Players don’t give two ***** about history. Mancity? What History Chelsea! Mid table club.

Players flock to clubs that with the highest wages bills as they know there’s good players there and they have the power to constantly spend.

Wages bills equal success. Not history or thinking you club special.
